Thai medicine for stomach issues

Had issues all my life with GERD (acid coming back up the throat). Every time I go to Thailand, I have to pack my bag full of medicine for it. Booths didn't carry prevacid or nexium. Any local meds that work that same that anyone knows about?

Thanks.

Thank you. This was very helpful. I hate having to bring all that medicine in. They always stop me and ask about it because I have so much. Its a major pain.

ANTACIL. An Antacid as the name suggests. Some mix of magnesium and aluminium hydroxides that neutralizes stomach acid. 6 Baht for 10 pills. Can eat as many as you want. Couple more brands in the same price range. Fill your bag if you have this problem frequently, doesn't get cheaper anywhere. In every pharmacy. They have the same stuff in bottles too, between 50 and 60 Baht for 250ml. A stronger drug which doesn't remove the problem but turns the pain of quickly is BUSCOPAN. Made from belladonna, don't overdose this one.

A bug causes this in many cases, Heliobacter, transmitted by kissing (amongst other ways). Another STD. I still remember the girl who probably gave it to me, moaned about stomach issues and had a pungent smell from her mouth. That was when medicine still believed it's caused by stress, and coffee, tobacco etc. You can be checked for this bacteria, and it can be removed with a mix of several antibiotics. If you don't, you have an increased risk of ulcers and stomach cancer. I didn't because I get heartburns only about once per month, and the chance of reinfection is really good.

Wow I learn something everyday, GERD can be caused by kissing, next stop, the dental supply store for those dental dams. I want a condom for my mouth.
