90 day reporting question.

Hi.

A retiree receives a 1 year visa extension. Then must report every 90 days to

Thai Immigration.

What if the retiree is out of the country for 4 months i.e. living in the U.S.

before the visa expires.

Is their any way of maintaining your current 1 year Visa without doing

the 90 day reporting to immigration?

Or would you have to reapply for a new Non O visa?

Thanks.

TC.

If you're here on an Extension of Stay and wish to leave the country you need a Re-entry permit. This will keep alive your Extension when you re-enter Thailand. A new 90-day reporting period starts from the day you re-enter.

You can buy a Multiple Entry Re-entry permit (3,800 baht) or a Single Entry one (1,000). It's best to get the permit well in advance, as getting one at the airport cannot be guaranteed.

If you don't have a Re-entry permit your Extension of Stay is cancelled when you leave Thailand.

I have the Multiple Entry Re-entry permit (3,800 baht) and highly recommend everyone retired here on long stay visas has one. You're then free to come and go whenever you wish, at a moment's notice. Every year when I renew my retirement visa I get the Multiple Entry Re-entry permit added at the same time. Then I have peace of mind. One less thing to deal with if the unexpected crops up and I make a quick exit from Thailand.

Thanks brewster and pubstud for your advice.

Just a couple o quick questions please.

To get the Re-entry permit I just need to got to the Pattaya Immigration Office and fill out the re-entry form there?

Any other documents required to bring at the immigration office besides my passport, and the money?

Do I need to specify when I am leaving and returning to Thailand(I may not know the exact date of return).

If I go with the multiple entry, I could come/go as many times within my extended stay visa and not have to apply for a new re-entry visa?

Thanks.

TC.
