hi guys i would like any info regarding dial tone when im in thialand ,on people ringing me while in thailand,

i usually roam my phone due to family and work,

the international ring tone that people hear while ringing you :ie long beeps

instead of ring ring.....

people usually know im overseas when they call me , due to the different ring tone ...'

any solutions? maybee divert all calls to a aussie number back at home and let it ring out , with normal ringtone ,and get a text on to who has called, ring back with roaming number, no one will suspect a thing.....

any other ideas? will my plan work?

any other solutions?

Maybe route everything to Voicemail, and then call the people back when you get a message that you have a voicemail waiting. Messy. but not sure there is an easy way around this.

Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination

I bought a phone with SIM in Thailand

I bought at a shop and asked them to set up

They also adived the NUMBER to dial out for CHEAPEST rate

Just left MY phone in the SAFE

Checked it when I got up , or when I was next in room

Cheaper to call back on THAI sim phone anyway :Think1:

Like your Style and know where you coming from 555

What I have done is set up calls to divert straight to Voice Mail with the normall Shit say I am busy etc

I then get alerted saying I have a message or whatever and ringing them back just feed them some Crap saying sorry I was tied up 5555

Problem with this is if no message left then I haven't a clue who rang.

Dependant on how you fixed can say Phone was broke or lost 555 this can only work a couple of times But work it does 55555

if you dont answer in thailand and you are romaing the callers will hear a Thai voice,,,,,so if they recognize thai they will know you are here.

There is a service which lets you choose a number in whatever country you want, with a dedicted call center answering, saying whatever you order them to say. andonly patch through the calls you want. a bit pricey but does the job, noone will be wiser......

Why you don't want people to know you're in Thailand ?

Don't you tell them you go for the temples and to play golf ....... ?

Hi Swissbanker

I tried to do the same with peoplephone.ch and netvoip.ch - rerouting per VOIP on a Thai mobile number. But the quality of calls I received in Thailand was mostly very bad and a good share (about 20%) didn't ring at all.

Did you try receiving calls in Thailand with Skype? How was the quality?

Sorry... I can't resist this comment 555++!

To get back on track, thanks for the ideas around Skype, I'll do a bit of research on this and see if it'll work out for me.
