I will be back in Pattaya next month. I need to get a root canal and filling done on my back molar.

I have read that Dr Cherry at Dental Smile Pattaya is an excellent dentist. So far this is who i will go with. Do any of you know the cost (in Baht) how much this would be.

Cheers

When you get the root canal done get a letter from the dentist saying

that the work that you got done is emergency dental work(ie you were in pain)

then you cane claim the cost of the work back on your insurance policy

You can only claim for emergency work , not cosmetic work

So ask dentist for letter BEFORE you get canal work done

Where to get it done cant help you there sorry

Keep checking forum and internet

It is actually 47 GBP! It falls under what is known as band 2 pricing tier.

Just be a bit careful, as some insurance companies will ask for recent evidence of examinations and if this issue has been noted, then they might not pay up(pre existing ), I know of some companies that ask for two years with of dentist notes and xrays.

Ah yes... On checking you are quite right.

I'm having a crown though so that comes under band 3.

My employer provides full dental insurance so not really fussed either way although I should really find a swish private dentist as it will be at no extra cost to me and the service/work might be better?

Quite right, with things like tort canal there is a definite benefit in going private. Bit the cost does escalate significantly, I charge between 350 and 750 GBP. But I don't think that you can do the same job on the nhs. Root canal treatment is the biggest cause of professional complaints against dentists in England, and I believe that it is a remuneration issue on the nhs which leads to poor quality and rush jobs. Make sure he uses a rubber dam, or request it- it is a sign your dentist knows what he's doing.

Just repaired my first molar tooth because it needed root canal surgury here in melbourne australia. cost $1600. Bupa paid $1450 . So I only had to pay $150 for the gap. Next I will get a crown incerted on that tooth but it will cost $1200.

with my payment gap will be $800 for me to pay out . so im waiting for my trip in july to patts.it will only cost me $210 roughly. Cheap. Only have to be carefull of that tooth because after root canel surgury, they become week. So i cannot chew on my right side of mouth when I eat.

Perhaps a warning, but I was once told by a Thai dentist that i needed root canal treatment, after part of my tooth broke off. I wasn't actually in any pain, and I decided to get a second opinion back in UK. I did not need root canal ...

Right on. I feel I got duped into taking the expensive route from a Thai dentist, the tooth in question has since been extracted.

I was told recently about a Brit who was diagnosed with stomach/bowel cancer and the Thai docs wanted to removed half his guts. He went back to UK and the cancer specialists there said bullshit.

I just got back from Patts and whilst there me and my mate had serious Dental work carried out there and they were nothing short of brilliant and camd to me recommended by many people back home. They are in Soi 3 off Beach Rd and called Pattaya Dental Clinic. But so you know just google dentists in Pattaya and as I noticed most clinics have costings on there websites .
