How's Koh Samui at the present time?

Any of you guys living down there or currently on holiday at Samui? I'm considering going down there for a few months, it's one of my favorite places in Thailand but I haven't lived there for some years now. So is it very busy? Lots of tourists? Are prices high? Are there still OK cheaper rooms/bungalows to be found? How about girls? Many there now? Are they easy to meet? I remember in past used to meet Thai gals just hanging out at the beach, they we're not really hookers but just liked living on the island and liked having a farand BF. There was none of the heavy mercenary scene like Patts. But maybe all that's changed. I'd certainly be interested in hearing some current opinions of living on Samui.
