Brit shoots himself on gun range

Interesting story...

The gun range that I used to go to as a teenager recently closed down after 40+ years in business..

They closed because of several suicides that took place at the gun range in the past few years..

We're not here for a long time

Just a good time !

I have been to that Shooting range and wondered if anything had ever happened like that as it would be so easy to do. I also stay at the Shagwell so I guess they will still be talking about that poor bugger when I get back over there.

Well he doesn't have to worry anymore about whatever it was that drove him to knocking himself off...but if there is a God then he will probably be in the shit again!

Apparently his problem was to big to solve that a quick beer and sex can not do the trick. Took the easy way out, dumb bastard and left the people who was there scared for life

the video was mind blowing

Well, at least you know the poor bloke did it to himself, shooting yourself, pill overdose and hanging are the most common ways a man will commit suicide and all studies show that jumping from a tall structure is the least attempted form of suicide.

In Thailand we all know about the gun range and can use it to do ourselves in, anyone can hang themselves in their room and with the open pharmacys anyone can get the right pills for the job. However, in Thailand the far leading cause of Farang suicide is by jumping. Why does the least attempted way to commit suicide by western men all of a sudden become the most common way for western men when you get to thailand? I have often felt many of these men were "helped" out the window or beaten to death and then thrown off the roof, structure, or window.

At least we know this guy was a victim of himself

this has been going on for years, i stayed in patts 6 yr ago and these types of suicides were happening then, i remember one and then it seemed like copycat suicides afterwards, it doesn't look like much has changed, in western countries with legal gun ranges, do we see the same amount of suicides as we see in pattaya?

i remember hearing rumours that a a few of these "jumpers" owned property in thailand and had given power of attorney to someone else

It does happen in the west. It isn't as frequent (I think - no study I'm aware of) as many people who wish to exit using a firearm can do so in the privacy of their own home so no range.

early morning posts from me hahah brain's in 1st gear now haha that makes perfect sense, i went into that gun range in pattaya klang/nua, it was the first time i'd fired a gun, had only shot a bb/pellet gun before then hahaha i needed a drink afterwards to settle my nerves

it doesn't seem that there's much anyone can do to stop these types of suicides though, the photo's show the attendant was very close and i imagine it's over in a split second and if the attendant did try to stop the farang who's to say the bullet wouldn't go into the attendant either by accident or with intent, tragic really

Don't want to be insensitive , but i hope he paid first...!

That would really have pissed the Thai,s off if he hadn't paid...they would probably have put another bullet in him.

Sad story though.

The same thing happened in September when I was there. It wasnt a Brit but another falang shot himself under the chin, CCTV cameras caught it and it was all over the news.

I suppose its as sure a way to go as any plus its quick also.

Shooting yourself is not 100% certain to kill you. Sometimes people live but rarely without permanent damage.

I guess the whole thing angers me some. I mean, I doubt the guy was terminally ill. Or in physical pain. Or so completely destitute with no possibility of a job or getting on the dole and living with modern medicine and food and shelter. When I think of how many people would change places with his chances in the world it makes me angry that he thought he had it so bad he had to end it. And that it would be OK to do it right in front of people whose lives he would negatively impact.

I think it is anyone's right to end thier lives if they choose to, who am I to say what is unbearable for anyone but myself. On the other hand it's just not right putting others in danger, or subjecting them to the trauma of witnesssing your violent suicide.

My mate who,s just returned from patts was talking to him in shagwells, he was telling telling him he had been in the nick for 6 months something to do with ice and they had took his passport away , and he had to go back to court, maybe that was the reason , he lived just across road from shagwells my mi thinks

Why would the cops let out a farang on bail I guess? Surely they would of remmaned him, even without a Passport there would be many ways to slip over the border, does make you wonder. :(

So its probably mental health issues to do with ice.

Too true. I saw a terrible photograph once titled "attempted suicide" some guy had put a double-barrel shotgun to his chin and fired off both barrels, but it must have slipped at the final second and instead of blowing his head off it blew his face off. So he's still alive but now in hospital for the remained of his life and a disfigured monster to boot. Plus there are numerous people who have survived suicide attempts by taking poisons only to be still alive but with terrible organ damage - throats burnt away with acid and such things. So the moral of the story is if you're gonna top yourself do your homework first and make sure you do it properly. Also no disrespect to the dea Brit in this thread but it is a shitty thing to do and involve others and leave a traumatic impact like that on another innocent person's life.

had this book called bodies of evidence all about dna, bullets e.t.c covered a story of a women who was shot point blank in the head and caused the bullet to ricochet of her skull and exit out her arm, think two weeks later she testified in court.

as for jumpers, well jumping out a building is a pretty much sure way to go as it was mentioned hanging, poison e.t.c is not 100% and if the man didnt care to think about his problems or avoid getting into a predicament then hes not going to think about others.

everyone can speculate over the reasons why but the truth went when he pulled that trigger.

I think harping on about the "trauma" he caused to the Thai guy is rather melodramatic. Anyone who's ever watched the Pattaya news channels knows how flippant Thais are when dealing with death, especially that of a Farang. He's probably still dining out on his story and a pound to a penny he's had a laugh about it with his mates. I'm not disparaging the guy but that's just how Thais are.

Yep going over the top of a 20 0r 30 high storey building will probably do the job. I always thought drowning would be a cool way to go (no pun) just swim out as far as possible and drown when you exhausted. Just don't do it in the Indian Ocean or the Noahs might get ya.

also the slowest way to go, you might be exhausted from the swimming but the feeling of not being able to breathe will cause distress and panic. and for you to finally blackout roughly 3 mins

personally, i dont want to die and would rather pick myself out of the gutter

In my opinion, suicide is for cowards. No matter what type of shit people got going on in their life, there are millions of other people who have it 10x worse and they are doing it with a fucking smile on their face.

This guy wàs on bail for drug offences, he'd been on remand for about a month, and I'm told he found that very hard to deal with!! But hey he weren't a kid,he knew the shit that comes with that game, so simple answer stay the fuck away from drugs!

"and for you to finally blackout roughly 3 mins" - only 3 minutes. Cool, way to go. With luck won't be found, get eaten up by fish and crabs, might end up in someone's tom yum at a Koh Samui restaurant, that's recycling for ya.

There are drug detox and rehab canters in Thailand, including that well known temple that specializes in drug/alcohol detox. It's a shame nobody could direct this man to one of those places. Agree suicide is a cowardly way out of personal problems, myself it's only something I'd consider if i was in the terminal stages of some fucking evil disease.

If you read my earlier posts you would see we are 100% in agreement. People have the right to take their own life. But I do reserve the right to judge if they really had it so bad. I'm not THAT magnanimous :Wassup1:

In this case I am reading here he had drug issues. He probably could have been cured of addiction and had a life again if he hadn't puled the trigger. Drugs suck. I'm all for recreational drugs (like scotch and viagra) but meth is an evil thing.

think ill stick to eating cows from now on and give anything plucked from the sea a miss :D "waiter my tom yum appears to be looking back at me"

but really, in about 24 hours of drowning your bodys going to shoot upto the surface like a torpedo as all your digestion system breaks down in to gas leaving some poor bugger to pluck you out from the water, or if your lucky get a free ride to the beach and make a guest appearence at a party or beach wedding
