A British man committed suicide at a Central Pattaya shooting range on Sunday afternoon. Police and rescue services made their way to the Pattaya Klang Shooting Range located on Pattaya Beach and inspected the body of Mr. Andrew Michael Davis aged 42 from Stockport, UK. He had suffered a self-inflicted wound to his head and the moments leading up to his death were caught on Security Cameras inside the shooting range. Mr. Davis, who was under the supervision of Khun Gitsana aged 25, purchased a total of 20 bullets for a 357 Magnum which is the weapon he chose to use when he arrived. The first fifteen bullets were expelled into the range and in the direction of the target. A further 5 bullets were loaded into the gun and after the first two, which were also expelled in the direction of the target, Mr. Davis is seen to point the gun under his chin and pull the trigger. He fell to the ground and died instantly. The shocked instructor, who was standing to his left, claimed he was unable to prevent Mr. Davis from taking his own life and he appeared relaxed throughout. Police know little about Mr. Davis but do have his hotel key and a rented motorbike. Any possible motives behind the suicide are also not known. The British Embassy in Bangkok are aware of the death and are providing consular assistance to the family of Mr. Davis.

357 magnum wouldnt leave alot left.

RIP

Looks like these guns aren't modified to a lower calibre like the range on Koh Larn. When I fired a pump-action shotgun there the guy waited until I tried my first shot before he took the safety off. I wonder if he was checking me out first?

I feel it is everyones right to end it if life sucks for them. But it is not their right to do it in such a horrific way that impacts others. The range suffers, employees suffer. Poor guy who couldn't stop it suffers. Why? Probably because the guy ran out of money and was rejected by his infatuation. It isn;'t right.

Jumping from a building is also wrong. Might hit someone else and even if not you leave a big mess for others to deal with. If he chose to swim out into the ocean and drown OK. No big bloody mess for others to clean up. But doing this is not right.

Not the first time I heard about folk doing suicides at these Pattaya shooting ranges. I would imagine they'll have to tighten things up soon, the instructors will be using much more control. Must have been a freak out for poor Khun Gitsana aged 25, something he'll remember for the rest of his life no doubt.

A British man at a Pattaya shooting range rented a Magnum revolver caliber .357 shot a practice round. Reloaded. Put the Magnum in his mouth and fired. He died instantly. Everything caught on security camera. The police is investigating the case.

Pattaya, January 15, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Lt. Col. Ratta Pratumkaew, and Deputy Superintendent, Pol. Lt. Jetsada Pratumkaew were informed about a dead foreigner a the shooting range in Central Pattaya, Moo 9, Central Pattaya Beach Road, Banglamung, Chonburi province.

At the shooting range they found the dead body of Mr. Andrew Michael Davis age 43, British citizen lying on the floor. With a bullet wound through his head. Beside him a Magnum revolver caliber .357. Six shot fired. Four left. The police seized the cartridges and the Magnum revolver for evidence and they watched the CCTV footage. It showed Mr. Davis had renting the Magnum. Two sets. 10 bullets per set. The first cartridges he aimed at the target with Mr. Krissana Sae Ngow’s assistance. Mr. Krissana, the staff of the shooting range helped Mr. Davis to aim and to shoot. But the in the second set after Mr. Davis had fired five times. Mr. Krissana turned his back momentarily to Mr. Davis who suddenly put the Magnum in his mouth – and fired. He fell to the floor. Dead.

The police does not know the cause of this suicide. His hotel room key was found on his dead body and outside the police found a Yamaha motorbike, red-white color , license number NGOR CHOR PHOR-216 Chonburi which they assumed was rented from bike a shop.

Just read that few minutes ago, was going to open the topic about the unfortunte man... Noticed that he stayed at the hotel, Probably he dont live in Pattaya long term at all.. I have hear umpteen times that lots of falangs killing themselves, there are every different motives involved in those unfortunte deaths... Bargirl for one, can be ruthless when he is ran out of money, They dont care about your feelings , their families is their priorty... The other is taking a holiday in Thailand with redundancy money, when that is gone, he will feel lost out when coming back home knowing that he cant get another job...

RIP to Michael Andrew Davis

Sad but quite possibly ran out of money with no idea how to rectify the situation. Having been in a few scrapes myself its not so surprising that some people complete the ultimate act.

RIP

Wow. That sucks. I really don't have a problem with someone who feels their life isn't worth living. I sometimes think the people who make that decision don't realize their life isn't really all that bad and they have bad chemicals in their heads but it is still their choice. I just can't condone doing it in a way that hurts someone else.

In any case, if I came across as harsh on the guy RIP. No more pain now.

Damn,, that sucks...RIP,, It says he came with a girl. She had no idea he was up to something? Even though she might have only knew him hours or days, you would think there was sign?? I know here in SF, if you show up at the range to rent a gun by yourself they say no. No buddy, no gun...

very sad ...but agree a kind of selfish way to do it ....

I called up a shooting range in Adelaide a few months back to make an appointment to shoot there ...and was told you must be accompanied by a family member ???? i said iam 49yr old and you want me to bring my mother ....but they then explained they had 3 of these suicides and a couple of attempts in the last year ? ....so seems to be a preferred way out for some people ......anyhow i feel sorry for anyone and their family if life becomes that bad you just want out .....sad

I wonder if Pattaya really does have a higher suicide rate than other places or if it's just the fact that because it's widely reported in the Pattaya media that it seems more prevalent.

No doubt Pattaya does attract allot of people with mental health problems and people with poor social skills, generally speaking those with happy home lives don't fly half way round the world to indulge in cheap sex with prostitutes.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that each year approximately one million people die from suicide, which represents a global mortality rate of 16 people per 100,000 or one death every 40 seconds. It is predicted that by 2020 the rate of death will increase to one every 20 seconds

The WHO also states that:

•In Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, the highest suicide rates are reported for both men and women.

•The Eastern Mediterranean Region and Central Asia republics have the lowest suicide rates.

Nearly 30% of all suicides worldwide occur in India and China.

•Suicides globally by age are as follows: 55% are aged between 15 to 44 years and 45% are aged 45 years and over.
