My Thai has gone from Crap to very Poor 5555 and over half the time, God only knows what I say !!! but the Girls seem to get some of the gist of what I am asking / saying.

 

A word of warning though of which I am sure you are aware, a lot of Girls get unsettled if they know you understand a bit of Thai.

The word leu = past tense meaning it has happened already. The word is used at the end of the sentence to say something already happened.

Where is the toilet? = hong nam yu nai?

I have 2 very good Thai language books that have been helpful with Thai ladies and a right laugh

and while I am stuck in the rapidly cooling shit hole that is Hampshire. I will either scan it & upload to the board moderators (if allowed not sure with copyright and all that crap) or post some of the phrases and put the titles + isbn number for board members to order.

Amazon second hand books is pretty good thtas where I got mine very cheaply from

I have nothing to do with the publishers just admire the time they must have put in, just like the OP of this thread

Will give it some attention and see if I can retain more than three words.

Although your post started as a belated Xmas pressie it is now just in time to be a very welcome Xmas treat for me.

Have cut and pasted all of your words and all the corrections/additions so I can read and edit it as a text document. Will be a good start for me to see if it is worth going further with the language. Have access to some books/Cd's but they have not arrived yet. At least I will find out soon if I should struggle on or just give up !

Very good and very interesting and demonstrates the limits of transliteration. eg to me like sounds like chawp not chob and already - lao not leu but that is not say either is correct until we hear how Thais say it and they have many accents. yes, very nice post. in bookshops you can pick up books that are great also - title something like "dating in thai" - learn how to ask for all your special little requests in thai! Sometimes the real textbooks just don't give you what you need quick enough. I did all of pimsleur and forgot a lot and also a lot of needed words are just missing. this is a great list. Thanks for the effort.
