Hi Guys!

Could anybody help me on the issue, how to get from Pattaya to koh chang? We will stay at the Siam Bayshore hotel on Walkingstreet. I have read that there is a public bus early in the morning, you have to catch at sukhumvit road. But if possible, we would like to not leave the hotel that early.

Best wishes

I have seen many travel agents offering a bus to Koh Chang for 600 baht which includes the ferry. Although you will need transport on Koh Chang because it is a big island and can be expensive hiring a taxi all the time.

When I visited Koh Chang I hired a car and it is a couple of main roads to Trat to catch the ferry and the car went free on the ferry, strange that. It was useful for getting around the island and seeing everything.

No hassle and a good price.

Try this crowd:

From memory about Bt300, couldn't believe it myself.

Was put onto them by a mate who lives on Ko Chang, good service, etc.

Its a long way, almost a day's travel all in, a lovely Island but also nice chill out time on Koh Samet, only 2 hours from Pattaya and a fair bit cheaper

Thanks you for your advice! Koh Chang is already booked, so Samet is not an option. Maybe next year

that's return?

also, doesn't the ferry leave you close enough in white sands beach you can walk?

I used a company called Samet Island Tour Company.

They're based in Pattaya and specialise in trips to Koh Samet but also transport to Koh Chang from Pattaya.

I can't remember how much it cost but it was very reasonable and I'd recommend them.

And they do reply to e-mails, there's a reservation form at the bottom of the page.

  • 4 weeks later...

had a great time in Koh Chang, White Sand Beach, stayed at RockSand right on the water

lots of restos to choose from, and a number of beer bars with take-out at the north end

the beach is lovely

approx 4 hrs from Patts including the ferry

The mini bus I went on took a long time. I was picked up at 10 in the morning, we picked up other people and left Patts with 7 on board. Then we picked 7 more up on the way so we were full then. One guy was doing a vsa run and going to Cambodia, out of the 14, 10 went to Koh Chang and the rest dropped off elsewhere.

There is more than one ferry, and the one we went on took the longest, over an hour, same coming back. By the time I got to the hotel it was about 6 o'clock, about 8 hours and the same coming back.

I would go again but pick a more direct and different company.

I went with two mates from bkk by cab. We sealed the deal with the driver the evening before.

(we had realized that we were too wasted for the initially planned public bus journey ;-)

we paid thb 3000 for getting off at the ferry. Maybe a bit expensive but we coul command the driver to stop for a smoke or a snack anytime. It has style this way imho :-)

Can anybody tell if one can get also a cab from Patts and what it will cost approximately!

Cheers!
