ah interesting a lot of people on here thinks the problem has gone away ,,,,,,,,but the people from bangkok have still not gone home thus putting strain on other citys pattaya included ,,,,,,,,,,ie water shortages singa shortages ,,,,and rise in food prices ,,,i touched on this a few days ago and other people have as well ,,,,,all is not well in patts it doesnt take a rocket sceintist to work it out ,,,until the people from bangkok go home ,,,it will get worse and worse ,,,,,,,ny g/f who usually parties the night away on loy kratong said she returned to her room with her freinds because it was so busy ,,,,not like a thail girl to turn her nose up at a party ,,,so until the people from bangkok go home the situation will get worse .....i sure they will soon thail time and im sure i read that the thail goverment was paying hotel fees or paying towards these fees somewhere a bit like the benefit agency in the uk ,,,never had it has good have they ????

why would they cancel flights if the airport is ok? ????????

says nothing about it here

http://www.thaiairwa.../flood_info.htm

Maybe if the flights weren't full enough they might figure that running the remaining flights at higher capacity allows them to make a profit?

A strange choice of Dates indeed i would suspect it is not just about Floods but the refit and roll out of the upgraded fleet and problems concerning this more than flooding

Possibly due to empty seats as Suvarnabhumi Airport is still operating as normal.

100% correct.

Also in January 2012 netflights.com has Thai flights for under £600.

That's the point, the flights from friday to monday aren't canceled. Before end after are canceled flight. Would be strange if it's caused by the floods.

From what I've read, Thai airlines has been forced to cancel some flights because of staffing problems owing to the floods. The staff of other airlines are not prevented from getting to their jobs so those flights aren't hindered.

point it cost more to have a aircraft sat on the runway then in the air thats why the budget airlines have a quick turnaround

It costs more to have a plane flying in the air with no passengers and most importantly no cargo.

I was at Swampy three days ago and it was very quiet indeed. Last time it was this quiet was when the red shirts were in the city.

“So I see this Thai girl in a bar. I ask her, would you sleep with me for 1 million baht? She says, YES! Then, I ask her, would you sleep with me for 20 baht? She screams, NO WAY! WHAT KIND OF PERSON DO YOU THINK I AM? So, I tell her, we’ve already established what kind of person you are. Now, we are just negotiating the price.â€

I am due to fly with Thai Airways on the 2nd December 21.35 and have heard nothing from Major Travel who i booked it through. I am pleased that so far my flight is not affected according to Thai Airways :Cross_Fingers:

I came back on the 2nd November and the Eva flight was only half full ,well in premium anyway , last time it was like that was Red Shirts , prob not helped by the press or the foriegn (spelling) office either ..... before i went people who were flying days after me were asking me was it ok in Patts and while i was there i was getting the usual panicky texts from home every time the floods were on the news

It seems whenever something happens anywhere in LOS the flights get less busy so if Thai did decide to leave out one flight a day that would maybe explain why .

Oh BTW are they leaving the Midday from heathrow as normal ?

Cost-cutting IMO due to low load-factors, which in turn are probably due to all the bad publicity, during the floods.

Charter and Low-Cost-Carriers frequently combine flights, to maintain profitable loads, things must be really bad at TG for them to be doing this with scheduled-flights rather than substituting a smaller aircraft like their A340s, which were also used on this route at the height of the economic-crash.

One imagines that people with tickets, for the cancelled flights, will be able to switch free-of-fees, to the lunch-time daily-flights from LHR ? Contact the airline direct.

I've just had my flight home on the 23rd bumped. got a call yesterday. Now coming home at midnight.

It's going to be because of low traveller numbers. no major issue i reckon.

As none of the other major carrier has issued any warnings and Thai only cancel a few departures from one airport I wouldn't worry about getting there....and if the water & Singha situation turn real ugly I'll have to survive on SangSom & Coke :Blur:

Meanwhile, Thai Air are planning big promotions and reductions to get the tourists back and the Govt is looking at re-introducing free Tourist Visas.

I think you'll find that this is to do with the 14% and worsening drop in landings at BKK which is being affected by scare stories like this rather than the chances of BKK or Pattaya flooding.

Cancellation of holidays planned in Bangkok may be justified, but not to Pattaya.

came today EVA Air, 9 am flight from TPE to BKK flight was barely 1/4 full in economy. Airport (BKK) was very quiet, customs and Immigration at 11:45 mostly empty. Took 5 minutes to get passport stamped.

Many thanks for the update 'Marko456' and i believe the cancellation of flights is due to various foreign offices advising people not to travel to Bangkok. Like you experienced an empty flight i believe they are canceling flights due to lack of passengers and would loose money if the flights had gone ahead.

HI Guys

This is from a Geezer who works out of the LOS in the Airline Industry. so now we know why Thai are doing Cancellations and it has Fuck All to do with Flooding or Airport closing etc.

Hi,

Before we get people all wound up, let's make sure we frame this correctly,

YES.. Thai IS going to =>SELECTIVELY<= cancel and CONSOLIDATE their BKK-LHR-BKK services effectively going from 2x daily to 1x daily because of the drop in bookings.

.

It will NOT be a total cancellation of service, but will be made based on bookings., If they can support 2x daily, then that's what they'll run.. if not, it's going to be 1x daily.

I do think it's appropriate to be sure we don't confuse the matter.. the cancellations are due to CUSTOMER BOOKINGS and ==>NOT<== due to the conditions at the airport itself.. that's a very important fact to make clear.

The FIRST current planned cancellation of their BKK-LHR service is the afternoon departure on the 15NOV and there is the =>strong possibility<= of more.. but will be largely driven by how booking shape up..

As I've mentioned earlier, this IS a risk and it's one that a number of carriers have already done to their BKK service..

As far BRU service, there is NO current planned cancellation of their launch service later this week.

Travel Safe,
