search driving licence thailand in seach box , take too long to repeat everthing in it. if your only coming for 1-2 weeks use international driving permit . if they still accept it . i'm under the impression now you have to have the real deal thai licence

in your previous post you say you know all the back streets and been driving for years , but now you want a book to read to study ...... if you don't know now you never will

Being informed by reading up is NEVER a bad thing. Thinking that you 'know it all' is just foolish.

Been driving in the USA for 44 years and read the new booklet every-time I have to retest for renewal. Government employees change thing constantly, gives them something to do.

I actually took photos of the posters showing all the different types of traffic direction road signs at the Government office for drivers licence in Roi-Et. I was amazed at how many there were.

He used to have a few years ago maps of all places to go to get licence but now only Chang Mai .

one thing i will say is where he says you need 2-3 copies double it if your doing car and bike 

catch a taxi out there and they will show you all things and get more photo copies if needed so you don't loose your spot in the line 

mine car & bike took me 8hrs from the time i left home till i got back . there were 3 of us was 1,500baht but gave him 2,000 for his troubles

Reason I want a Thailand Licence instead of an International one is that I already have a permanent address and only a few more years to go for retirement. Although both would probably be useful.

a lot better with the thai licence as you can hand over at money exchange , no need for passport , you can get thai price at lion park and so forth but i have not tried . my 1yr original licence i renewed  when due 1mth before hand . got it changed over and ended up with 6yrs ! bonus !!!! will do the same again . apparently depends on when your birthdate is , mines due on my birthday . so i would say do on your birthday or very close to it , that way you should get the extra year . both car and bike cost me 960 baht

there is a thread on here somewhere about thai licenses that says you actually have to have the licence ......if you haven't got it on you or don't actually have one it is a 50,000baht fine where as before it was 1,000 fine . search the site .

ring NAM'Staxi and get a price on taking and waiting for you

I have never had to show any sort of Identification at a money exchange before. Is this new ? Like in the last three years.

not sure if fulung only or across the board . and yes ask for passport now in the last 3yrs have always had to show it but i give them my licence as your licence has your passport number on it
