I am always looking at ways of improving user experience for forum members and one of the ways is by providing unique content for forum users. We are grateful for all the reviews we get on the forum and trip reports. However, Pattaya has many businesses that are uncovered.

 

I wanted to get some reports made on businesses, these were designed to be quick factual reviews with pictures. Unfortunately I was very saddened to see the first report get attacked by several members saying that the OP had no credibility because he never spent the night in the room. The idea is to provide a bit of info and some pictures. I am sorry but I simply cannot afford to pay someone to spend a few nights sitting in a hotel room, plus there is not enough time in the year for that.

 

For those that attacked the reporter, please keep away from the threads if they offend you, I may set up a separate user group, so those with an issue with someone providing pictures and info on hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes and other businesses, can be excluded from the whole section. People are very welcome to add there constructive reviews to the threads. (negative or positive) These threads are done to help you get more info and discounts, they help me get more members/traffic and they help the business owner. Its a win win win situation.

 

The plan is as follows.

 

The person doing the reports/photos is remaining anonymous due to personal reasons has been tasked to cover all 200 Agoda Pattaya hotels. Providing he is granted access and the owners cooperate. He will provide

 

- pictures of amenities, rooms, pool, maybe parking etc

- he will try to get discounts for us

- he will try to get special offers

- he will try and get info about the hotel in general

- may publish or link to prices

 

The Agoda reports may attract some extra sales who knows, then hopefully with that money he will start covering restaurants, cafes, beer bars, apartments etc etc This idea is at a huge initial expense to me, but I do hope that it will attract new members, by further increasing useful unique content on the forum. I am really excited about this new section and I hope that business owners cooperate and I hope we can get 100's of reports in place. As I mentioned earlier, people are welcome to add there own reviews negative or positive.

 

If you are a business owner of any shape and form, large or small, please PM him here if you know a business owner please refer them to this board member. If you are staying at a guesthouse I am very sure the owner will appreciate you hooking him up.

 

Any types of businesses can be covered. Boats, aeroplanes, tourist attractions (go karting, bungy jumps) bars, cafes, hotels, rentals, shops, guesthouses, gogos, Gentlemens Clubs etc.

I had doubts at first when he came,but I understood very quickly that he worked for PA.I will carefully monitor this section threads that will have very detailed with lots of information. for work.

The first 3 hotels I've visited now have their own threads. I've contacted approximately 30 more hotels and am waiting to hear back from them. In addition, I've begun contacting other establishments and have two beer bars and one Agogo wanting to take part in this endeavor (no scheduled date yet when those will take place, but I'm hoping in the near future). Hopefully I'll get enough business reports completed to require this section to be split into sub-sections; one each for hotels/guesthouses, Agogos/beer bars, restaurants, and a section for other types of businesses.

 

I'm certain, that with time, the vast majority of members here will recognize the value of this section. In the meantime, as LaaMok mentioned, if you know a business owner in Pattaya, please bring this section to his attention and encourage him to take part. It's free and it will expose his business to 59,000+ members. If you have a particular business you'd like me to do a thread for, just let me know here or in a PM and I'll do all I can to make it happen and get you as much information as possible about the establishment.

I was one of the people who was critical of the idea but I wouldn't say I attacked the OP.

 

I think arranging the discounts is great. I have looked at the first 2 or 3 write-ups and there is lots of relevant information and nice pictures which will help some people make decisions on where they wish to stay.

 

Most of the negativity from me and others comes from calling it a review which suggests opinion whereas the write-ups/reports are less about opinion and more about facts.

 

As has been suggested by the reviewer I think its a good idea to encourage people to add their thoughts and comments on the business listed as that means the thread can act as a repository for both info and opinion going forward.

 

Finally a piece of constructive advice. It may be worth letting him know which words are on the spam word list as I notice that SPAM WORD appears in one of the reviews.

A possible mission for the Nameless Reviewer . . . I've been wondering about the pros and cons of staying at the Sunshine Garden Resort Hotel, in North Pattaya. Questions on my mind include: Has it got a pleasant relaxing ambience? Can I get a room or bungalow with a proper bathtub, not just a piddly shower? How far to walk from the Dolphin Roundabout? Are personal guests allowed in without hassle and free of charge?

I have just seen seen this thread and would be more than happy for your guy to come and speak to me and I would also be very happy to offer him a two night free stay ( In all of my four apartments ( when available) I would like him to stay in all four as they are all different and this would allow him to list the good and bad points of all as apposed to only one of them.

 

I fully understand that he will be totally honest in his review and welcome it.

 

All are fully booked now however when I speak to him I am sure we can find a few gaps.

 

I have spoken to the current renters and they are happy to allow him to take a look now if he would like to( he would be able to confirm that they are as shown on my website) and give an advanced review pending a full on site review.

 

I have sent this post to him and look forward to a reply.

I am coming over to PATTAYA in October and have nearly completed negotiations to stay at Pasadena Lodge in LK Metro. I inspected hotels on my last day of holiday in Pattaya last May and thought that a Deluxe room at 110 BAHT a night low season and 1500 High season good value. I have booked there this time but have to accept a transfer to a Superior room half way through my stay as I am too late to reserve room for total duration of my stay.

 

I have found reservation staff are prompt and helpful when doing emails, but what I would like to see is for hotel to link itself with Agoda, OR get Credit Card facilities. It is so incconvenient to use telepgraphic transfer to send money to the hotel bank account, and even with 8% advance payment discount, I may still lose money due to poor exchange rates and Bank fees, when compared to paying in cash at time of checkin --depends on how Australian Dollar trades in next 2 weeks.

 

However that said I did try staying in another LK Metro guest house last May, and wont go into naming establishment as owner is a Board Member and does not need indentification --but found no promised driver to pick me up from airport, staff had no idea of my booking on arrival, had to carry a heavy suitcase up 3 stories without lift or help, was then told AFTER I had been checked into incorrect room, I needed to change room for night 2 onwards. Shower area was a watery mess and entry for 30 mins after a shower required great care or a slip and fall was likely. So promptly left hotel after night 1 and went to Soi 13 -- far more expensive--but then I dolike a safe clean and quiet environment .

 

Small time establishments that wont provide guest with credit card facility and or link to Agoda or similar for payment of rooms should be an essential credential to be identified in any review, also please take careful note of bathroom size quality and shower water containment -- one doe snot need shower flooding whole bath room floor!!

I'll be pretty busy over the next few days. Aside from visiting a few more hotels, I'll also being doing a business report and making my way around to some agogos. In addition, I've spoken with the manager of Halo, and he's giving me access prior to opening time so I can get some pictures of the inside for you all who haven't yet seen it. When I do so, I'll update that particular thread with those shots. Of course, both the hotel and agogo spreadsheets will be updated as the new reports are posted.

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing are reviews of Gyms and even personal trainer types in Pattaya. Not that there are tons of Gyms I assume but people from time to time ask about Gyms and information can be sparse out in cyber space. People still like to work out during their holiday and I've yet to see a hotel gym that had more than a few cardio machines, a few dumbbells, and a universal type machine.

 

For example I been to the small Tony's gym on W.S. between soi 15/16, but it took me quite a while to find it since it's actually located in the back of the Club Azyzz bar.

You can be certain if a hotel I go to has a gym, it will be photographed and reported on. As for large, stand-alone Gyms, I think getting around to those is possible. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment, but you will hopefully start seeing some gym reports in the near future.

Hmmm...I'm sure I did a report on Moon Agogo, but the thread seems to be missing...anyone know where it went?

It would be usefull to separate different business in different sub-categories.

 

ie :

- hotels

- Night entertainment (bars, agogo...)

- Day entertainment (shops, tourist attraction)

 

So when we want to find a hotel, we don't have to click all the gogos reviews...

This has been discussed and will be put into effect at a later date. At the moment, there aren't a lot of reports, so the need to separate them isn't as necessary as it will be later on. Thanks for the comment and reminding us that doing that is needed!
