Koh Chang Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Planning to take my teerak to Koh Chang early next year for a few days and am looking for some advice. Not been able to find anything from someone who has been there recently.

Any suggestions on the following?

Accomodation...preferably on/near the beach, 3* ish, Good/clean comfortable, but not overly expensive and close to, but not right in the nightlife.....5-10 mins walk is good!

Any ideas/suggestions/photos very much appreciated!

Thanks,

I like White Sands Beach Resort a lot, but it's hard to get to. (I've got pics out there on previous KC threads. None on this computer). It's either a 1k walk down the beach or a moto up and over a big hill. Still, one can walk to the bars and restaurants of WSB & you can rent a moto when you get off the songtheaw. It's beautiful and isolated at that end of the beach. Since you're bringing your own - look at Kai Bae Bch or Lonely Bch. Cheaper accommodation on the water. Lot of backpackers though. This guy will give you all the info you need: http://iamkohchang.com/

I stayed at the paddy palms in white sands, cant remember the name!

here are hotels near white sands

Try Baan Ton Rak just outside white sands, nice cheap resort about a 10 min walk to the beach!

Paddy's Palms is also good and has a nice swimming pool with free breakfast included.

I always stay at KC Grande Resort when in Koh Chang. It is very nice, good quality and excellent service. Pricewise it's one of the more expensive hotels in Koh Chang, but I find it's worth it.I have mostly stayed in the Beachfront villas, but also in the suites in the main building. It has a good private beach and a good swimming pool and pool bar. Just in the start of the main road, but close to bars and restaurants. I usually rent a bike when there, so its easy to get around.

I enclose some pictures I took last time (June 2011).

Wow, they've really tricked that place out. Stayed there 6 or 7 years ago and it was nice, but pretty ordinary. Of course it was 1500B then too. Great location on WSB. wj

I think this is a good place to stay , I go there again today with my two young boys wife and her cousin , got the fishing rods a couple of golf clubs for the range , Booked into the Paddy's Palms Irish pub for Christmas Dinner . Should be great . For mongering there are a string of girl y bars also in this area White sand beach ,about the biggest town on the Island .. Kho Chang is a great place but your better off with your own transport to get around , be careful on the hire motorbikes as the roads can be slippy with dusty sand ,,

paddys palms white sand beach,,,nice clean modern easy walk to bars beach ect and reasonable prices..i couldnt get a deal there last march so i stayed over the road at koh chang hut...very basic accomodation but the setting was unusually special, on top of a cliff over looking the sea, quaint and lush with little walkways leading to a nice resturant overlooking sea..best to get a sea view room i paid about 900bht

to get the most out of koh chang hire a bike ..take it steady its the only way to see the whole island

if you want the perfect desert island experience koh mak is only 1 hour fast boat trip..enjoy
