The S100 was announced yesterday. Specs are good, this new camera seems to be an improvement over the much vaunted S95.

 

It should be available in a few weeks and I'm picking one before my next trip in February, the price will have dropped a bit by then

Sounds very cool. I'd consider this but may go for the Sony TX 55 because it's 100 dollars cheaper.

How do prices in Thailand compare with prices in Europe/USA? Does the heavy inport tax kill it?

The only thing I don't like is still had 24fps for video, when the new P&S cams already have 50 (PAL) or 60 (NTCS). Should increase the frames per second, and remove the slowmotion mode, that supporting only 640x480 / 320x340, and the quality is terrible.

 

But a superb camera, photographically speaking.

1080p video vs 720p

Optical zoom is enabled in video mode

DIGIC 5 processor/sensor vs DIGIC 4

CMOS instead of CCD sensor

 

 

Basically, it's the same story as the S90 vs S95.

If you have the S95, not really worth upgrading. If you're buying for the first time, get the S100.
