I had a great time when I visited, too.

The country was full of very friendly people.

Schwedegon was awesome; one gets a very good idea of Buddhism there.

I still think about walking around that massive pagoda among the locals. It was magical.

There's something about a place that had a pause in its development I found fascinating.

I sincerely hope the junta allows a bit more freedom there soon; the people deserve it. (Not holding my breath though... )

Excellent photos; thanks for sharing and bringing back some wonderful memories.

Thanks for sharing. I did a visa run just across the Thai/Burma border last year and only got to see a tiny part of the country. From the looks of the pics I'd definitely like to go back for a longer visit!

Not really a good place (nothing like Thailand) but P4P can be easily found in the capital. From what I know it's rather safe and slightly cheaper than Patts.

No, call me crazy but I didn't have P4P in Myanmar although it's very easy to find in Yangon. There are many girls available in discos such as Emperor etc. but I didn't even check those places. Call me soft but I just didn't feel like shagging those girls... This is one of the poorest countries in the world, some of the girls are more or less sold to Burmese/Chinese pimps who exploit them.

Yeah, only temples. I hate those disgusting sex tourists. How someone can pay to have sex with a poor Asian girl is beyond me :25:

Nice shots, thanks. I have to say that Burma is one of my favorite places, with the nicest people I've found anywhere. P4P is not an option outside if Yangon, but there's so much more to do, and hey, you're going to end up back in LOS anyway.

These are excellent pictures. I was in Burma briefly, but only at a border market. It was pretty poor there and we were followed by vendors who stayed within 6 inches of us at all times. I was pretty uncomfortable and was glad to leave. But I would love to see the capital and other tourist places. (sigh)...someday.

Hi Xym,

Thanks and feel free to use any of those pics. I spent 3 weeks in Burma (had 2 weeks in Pattaya before and another 2 weeks in Pattaya after 5555) and I travelled on my own, I hate tour groups.

All I needed was a copy of Lonely Planet, Wikitravel and a few forums. I might go there again one day, I just love that country. It's like a mixture of Thailand, Cambodia and India and at the same time they have their own identity.
