Hello people all, I am interested to travel in December at Las Vegas with my gf. I am very new for traveling and that is the first time visiting. So anybody can guide what will better for me? Thanks for your real information.

I know a ton about Las Vegas -- am there often and will be back there in 2 weeks.

In order to help, I need to know more about what questions you have -- your message is too vague for me to know what you want/need to know.

There are almost too many good hotels in Las Vegas to list -- it depends upon what you want to spend and how opulent you want your accommodations.

Since it will be your first trip to Las Vegas, I would strongly urge you to stay "on the Strip." If you want to spend a little more, Bellagio, Caesars (their newer wings), Venetian, and Wynn all have great rooms. Mandalay Bay and Mirage are a littler less, but still have great rooms and options. I've never stayed at Aria or Cosmopolitan, but they're two of the newest properties on the Strip, so I imagine their rooms are quite nice.

If you're looking for "the most bang for your buck," you might want to consider somewhere like Harrahs, which is pretty much dead-center on the Strip, or Monte Carlo. I have always thought that Monte Carlo offered very good value -- nice room, nice property, but prices seem to be a bit lower than New York New York and MGM, which are the two properties closest to it.

I'm not a big fan of Excalibur, because it is very popular with families.

If there's a particular hotel (or hotels) that you are considering, I'd be happy to give you my frank feedback on each.

Also, what is the goal of your trip? Gambling? Shows? Nightclubs? Celebrity spotting? Concert/event? Different hotels may cater to these things.

Honestly it's all up to personal taste where you want to stay I went to Vegas a few months ago and stayed a little off the strip at a place called the golden coast and I had some friends that stayed right on the strip and to make a long story short I spent about half the money they did, drinks and food are super cheap compared to the strip and hey there are free shuttles that run 24/7 to the strip so if your cheap like me stay away from the lights :-p

If you're a basketball fan, be sure to go to The Palms -- owned by the family that owns the Sacramento Kings and I see NBA players there all the time in the off season. Given NBA lock-out, I would expect that plenty would be there these days.

Lots of upper-end clubs in too many hotels to list. I'm a crappy person to ask what the "hot" clubs are, as I am clueless on that front.

Grab a local paper or one of those "events" magazines -- they may reference whether a particular celeb is hosting an event at a club. You should know, however, that sometimes they don't even show up for their own "event" and, even if they do, I think they're back in a VIP section where you can't even see them.

The best club right now is Marquee, inside the Cosmopolitan hotel. It is extremely hard to get into, but if you have a girl with you then it's no problem. Just have to get in line. They don't even let single guys in, which is stupid because we're the ones buying the drinks. I went 2 months ago and couldn't get any action from the girls, all very stuck up snobs. Vegas is only good for gambling, not much else IMO. The whores are too expensive, the hotels are expensive, fuck even the food everywhere is expensive, the single girls all got their heads stuck up their snatch. They do look good though. It's a city full of fucking poseurs. From now on I'll only go to gamble.

Vegas: Dress like you have a million dollars. Dress to impress when you go to a nightclub. Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas (all of Clark county) and it is enforced. Rio Suites used to be the very best place to stay (imho) but it isn’t on the strip. Rooms are huge (name suites gives you the idea) Get a reservation because room prices go up if you show up at the door. or if you go during convention season.

Gambling: If you stay at a table long enough, they will take every penny you have.

Go to diner before you gamble so you can see how much money food costs. Cheap food is often scary, very scary. Some can be edible but all you can eat for 5.99 doesn’t mean anything if you can’t eat 2.00 worth.

Now, This is the important part about gambling; expect to lose every penny when you are there and budget your loses so you don’t lose all your money the first night and then can’t buy food the rest of the time. (I’ve seen many hungry people at the airport waiting for the plane to take off.

All smiles when the plan is landing. A few on the way out.

Barbary Coast is a fantastic Value hotel on The Strip

Or New Orleans for off strip location, both excellent and good prices to boot

Not sure what this has to do with Pattaya. If you wanted a monger perspective on Vegas I'd get it - but it doesn't sound like you're looking for that.

I'd say go to Pattaya instead.......or go search the trip advisor forum if you're set on Vegas. I've been there a few times, bizarre, surreal place - but my traveling money is going where I get more bang for my buck these days.

I hate the place myself and I have to go there for work once a year. I make it as short as I can get away with. Vegas has zero redeeming qualities unless you are 20 something or a gambler. It's filled with multi-billion dollar casinos and that money sure as shit comes from your pocket. Unless you are gambling drinks are expensive, unless you want to hit the buffets which have stupid operating hours food is expensive. While I don't mind smokers in general I can't stand them in Vegas because you can't get away from the smell. The no windows no clock in the casino area screws with your time perception and they don't make finding a bathroom or an exit easy. It's all designed to extract as much money from you as possible.

If you want a taste of reasonable Vegas head to Fremont St which is old Vegas where Binions and the Horseshoe are. It's also called The Fremont Street Experience. It's less expensive then the Strip and its the old style neon lights and signs which are great to take pictures of if you are into photography.

That's my take on Vegas.

I have to go there in a few weeks and I get back then sit at home for 7 days and fly to Pattaya. Even if Pattaya is underwater I'll take it over Vegas any day of the week.

I am with you Spanky, I hate the place. Went one time and never went back. I spent two nights there and then headed to Zion National Park and then to the Grand Canyon instead. If you do not gamble then you are going to be bored.

I gamble a little bit these days (used to gamble a LOT more!), but am in Las Vegas for fights quite often.

If you're up for spending money, just about every famous restauranteur has a location in Las Vegas these days, and I have had some AMAZING meals there.

As I have posted, I think it is absurdly priced for mongering -- you can drop a grand in a strip club and not even get jerked off! Going to the legal brothels is possibly the worst investment you can make, in my opinion.

Finally, with regard to the prior post about Barbary Coast, it is now called "Bill's Gambling Hall & Saloon," and I think it is now owned by Caesars/Harrahs (company was known as Harrahs but recently changed its name ot Caesars. presumably because that is their highest end property)/

For low cost I always stayed at the Imperial Palace. Tropicana just did an upgrade to their rooms, not sure of the price. Stratosphere at the North End of the strip always has low prices. The Riviera is still around for cheap too.

Monte Carlo still a great bargain, as is the Flamingo.

Lots of great restaurants. If you are going to look for celebrities, you will see most in some of the nicer restaurants or hosting a party at some club. I've lived in Vegas for 11 years now and not seen a celebrity just out and about. Look for celebrity poker tournaments.

For 4 days, I'd bring about $600 a day including hotel.

I am sitting in Vegas airport waiting to fly home. I have found something good about the town. The internet in their airport is free and doesn't suck. The rest I could happily live without. In 9 more days I'll be in the LOS and in my happy space.
