Name: Moom Aroi

Address: Soi 4 Naklua (Behind Banglamung Police Station)

Telephone #: +66 (0)-3822-3252

Website containing pictures, a map, and a review: Moom Aroi

Directions: Take 2nd Road north to the roundabout. Cut straight across and onto Naklua Road. Take that north. You will eventually cross over a small bridge with the water on your left. Keep going a little further and it will be on your right (large white building...parking on the right). The sign is in Thai, so don't bother looking for "Moom Aroi." But, the sign is a triangle shape on top of the building and is lit up in neon colors at night. From the 2nd Road and Pattaya Klang intersection, it takes about 15 minutes to get there via driving safely on a motorbike.

My wife and I ate there tonight with another couple and had a terrific time. I called the restaurant today, gave them my name, and told them I wanted to make reservations for 4 at 7pm and mentioned we wanted to sit outside by the water. When we arrived the place was packed! We gave a woman my name and told her we had a reservation. She checked a large dry-erase board, confirmed the reservation, and we were shown to our table, which was right on the water (as opposed to being sandwiched in with the rest of the diners). The lapping of the small waves, combined with a nice breeze coming off the water made for a wonderful table location. In addition, the restaurant is conservatively designed in an almost romantic way, yet does enough business that all the hustle and bustle gives it some "the place to be" atmosphere.

We ordered drinks and a ton of food off an impressive menu (written in English and Thai with a picture of each dish). We had steamed rice, fried rice with crab, two fried fish, one steamed fish, 4 crabs, a Thai soup, mussels, two spicy papaya salads with crab and peanuts, one spicy papaya salad with peanuts, and I can't remember what else...it was really quite the spread and I don't think we could have possibly fit more food onto the table. Despite all we ordered, the food was delivered in 15 to 20 minutes. I tasted a little bit of everything and it was terrific. My favorite was the fried rice with crab, the spicy papaya salad with peanuts, the crab, and the fish...I know...a lot of favorites. To wash everything down, I had 2 large Singha beers. Only 2 types of beer are on the menu, but to me, beer is beer, so I was fine with that.

For those of you looking for the same quality food, but at a closer location, there's another Moom Aroi restaurant on 3rd Road, a little north of the Pattaya Klang intersection...you'll see the same triangle sign a kilometer or two down on the left. However, you'll really be missing out by not going up to Naklua due to that one being right on the water. It would be an outstanding place to eat while the sun goes down, but I think it's a bit hot this time a year to do that. Perhaps my wife and I will go back there around November or December to experience that.

I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys seafood (no chicken, pork, or beef on the menu as far as I recall), and who has the company of a superb woman with him.

The bill came to 2,900 THB...a steal considering the quality of the food, location, and the restaurant itself. It's actually a lot cheaper than some of the seafood places my wife and I have eaten at on Walking Street.

BIG THANKS TO MR & MRS TEXASSKIBUM for not only inviting me and my wife to dinner with them, but for also picking up the tab! This is the second time we've gone out to eat with the Ski Bums and they're fantastic company who will be sorely missed when they depart the LoS!

First, I'm completely bummed I didn't get back in time to meet up with Mr and Mrs TSB. My girl have eaten at this one and the one on 3rd Road, and we both like the 3rd road one better. The menus are the same (read: ginormous) and feel free to tell the waiter to quit hanging around for a few minutes while you pour over it.

Very suprised you like 3 rd road better. The setting by the sea, the music, make it worthwhile to go to Naklua alone. Be aware, reservation is necessary!

I am a regular guest at Moom Aroi in Sriracha, which has even a better set up right on the beach than its sister in Naklua.

Prices are a bit steep compared to other non-tourist seafood restaurants in that area, but it’s compensated by the excellent quality of food you get served. Even the crab in the “som tam pu ma” (spicy papaya salad with blue crab) was slightly frozen, which gave the whole dish a fresh touch

Firstly thanks to Shivers for his review and excellent directions

I've been there 3 times recently. 1 x 3rd road and 2 x Naklua. Food was pretty dam good but the Naklua setting makes the longish drive worth it.

Be aware, reservation is necessary!

Obviously it's low season now but I went on a Saturday and a Monday. Didn't make a reservation and got a table by the sea both times. In fact before the first visit I tried to reserve a table for 9pm but they said the last time for reservations is 7pm!

I preferred Pupen seafood in Jomtien, was cheaper just as fresh and had soft shelled crab which is my favorite seafood.

The ladyboy wait staff were far nicer looking in Moom aroi though and the scenery is better there too :)

Great place to spend the late afternoon/evening to have a romantic diner with a nice lady .

Live music and nice views are included .

Avoid the weekends when the place is packed with annoying Bangkok Thais and no reservation is needed .

good place but staff discrimitate other Thais.

for the rest ok.

But being discriminated only because i look Thai wear a short and white shorty.....my reservation for 4 people suddenly whas not there any more and i needed to walk around myself and sit somewhere to get a place.

Also the managment is very poor, their own staff doesnt really know their own function, not see a supervisor to get things in order all night....

and we got our food in seperated and needed to ask for my fried shrimp after 30 min to get them...

good quality service but good treatment and staff probely only with the elite clients...

will no go there , plenty of other good fish/seafood restaurants.

Whenever I come to Thailand I search out seafood at least 1 meal a day. Just had dinner here for the first time and I will most definately return. Great atmosphere, service, music and food.

The only fault is I gotta get a cab here but that's not a big deal really, and good to get away from the Walking Street hustle occasionally anyway:) Almost has a koh samoi feeling in pattaya!!

Head along Jomtien Beach Road almost as far as you can go, and its about 200 metres before the road turns back up towards the Sukhumvit.

Look for the large crab sign.

The photo may describe it better ?

Can someone give a description of where on 3rd road is Moom Aroi ?

The 3rd Road Moom Aroi is opposite the Korean Business Club and Lun La at Chalermprakiat Soi 6. (I think Lun La has changed its name though. If you are driving from Pattaya Klang on 3rd Road, it is on the left at the first set of lights after Pattaya Klang (About 500 metres). Take a left at the lights, and it is immediately on the left. Signage is all in Thai, there is a big car park at the front of it.

You can take a Bahtbus up the 2nd Road. Get off at Pattaya Klang and on a bus along this one, and again at the crossing with Third Road, at the TOT building. 30 Baht. Personally, I'd take the Bahtbus along 2nd Road and exit at Soi 6/1, and walk along Soi 4 opposite 6/1 to 3rd Road. Maybe half a mile to the place from there. Couple of bends and crossings though, if you don't know the area, you get lost.

from WS by taxi (no motos) how much to Moom Aroi? 150b?

If you are referring to the branch in Naklua, we hired a bahtbus from the top of Soi 8 & 2nd road for 200 baht. We thought the price was fair as we had a party of twelve & the drive is pretty far. I would guess from WS, the price would be about the same or slightly higher.

The Naklua branch is out in the boonies, at the far end of Naklua Road, where there is no passing traffic. However, the parking lot attendants were able to call us a bahtbus to take us back to Pattaya for about the same price, I believe.

If referring to the 3rd road branch, I think 150 baht would be about right. We hired a baht bus to take us to Vientienne Restaurant on Pattaya Tai and X-zyte disco on 3rd road for 150 baht, which are similar distances.

I would say the food there is not very good to average.

Your TG will probably say the same.

However, the atmosphere is very, very nice.

Beautiful seaside view, candles, soft lighting.

The BKK girls that come down are hot too!

Every TG I've taken there has said the food was great! Maybe they were just being polite but as I think the food there is great I'll certainly be back again.
