Dynasty Inn - Pattaya

I have stayed in the Dynasty Soi Nana in Bangkok several times, but never stayed in the Pattaya one, I like the Bangkok one and it is quieter than the Nana.

I booked the Dynasty in Bangkok for a couple of days and saw that they do a free taxi transfer to Pattaya Dynasty Inn if you are staying more than 2 nights so that has got to be about a 1200B saving, so I am considering staying there for a couple of weeks at aroom rate of about 1200B per night, any stayed there thinks it is good value ?

I did the same deal several years ago. The minivan was somewhat cramped with 3 other people and their luggage, but it was a decent ride. The wifi access back then was unusable, even though I had a room directly over the lobby, but it may be better these days. The hotel itself was decent with good staff. And as an added bonus, the roof only has a 3-4" rim that will in no way impede your plummet to oblivion at the end of your trip when you decide it would be better to take a header instead of facing the sad reality of going back to farangland... :P

And Soi 13 is a nice, relatively central location with the shopping center & movie complex right across the street of 3rd Street. And almost directly across from the hotel is the Lek hotel's buffet which was a good value (though on a previous trip I got a nasty case of food poisoning there and haven't returned).

But the last several years I've instead rented condos from Dancewatchers which I think are a much better value & higher quality (obviously, since I keep coming back).

There have been several threads on Dynasty Inn that you can search, as well as a lot of reviews for Dancewatchers you can search as well.

It was my first trip to Thailand and I stayed there in 2008, I used the same deal which was great for a newbie, the service and staff was very good, good location.

The roof top pool is only small and it wasnt getting used by the customers.

I stayed there during my first trip to Patts, back in ’07. My experience was average to below average. It’s clean, safe, and adequately comfortable. I think I paid 1,300 THB or something like that in high season. What I remember from back then is the following:

  • No internet in the rooms, and lousy internet in the lobby
  • Charged me 300 THB for each guest beyond the first. Since I was paying that fee, I asked for an extra towel and was told “no.”
  • Tried to rip me off on taxi service back to Bangkok. Dude at the front desk quoted me 1,700, and got somewhat hostile when I asked him to match the 1,200 quoted by the dude at the stand right across the street
  • Average food and slow, unfriendly service in the restaurant

It wasn’t awful, but there is a lot better for the price. Getting a free ride instead of paying 1,200 baht or so for a ride from Bangkok doesn’t offset a negative experience with those types of hassles. Things may have changed since, but I wouldn’t give them another chance.

Does the minivan go direct from Bangkok hotel to Pattaya or does it go around hotels doing various pick-ups?

Stayed one night in 2011 before my VT6 condo room was available. It was ok, but there are better places to stay. Location is excellent. I liked the pool view new building rooms at LEK hotel better.
