Have only stay in Arece lodge Hotel in the evergreen wing, it is good hotel. I normally prefer to stay in a Condo or apartment.

some people call it the evergreen hotel, are they the same? One or two receptions?

I voted August Suites. But I've only stayed in 3 hotels of the list:

- August suites

- April suites

- LK Royal suites

I also visited some rooms at:

- Page 10

- Tim Boutique

Although I voted August Suites, I think they are all nice hotels and would have no trouble staying in any of the 5 hotels I mentioned above and I would probably do in the future.

I'm paying 1400 now, ive stayed in 500baht rooms..hard to go back when you enjoy the comforts

i'm willing to pay the extra 1000 for the comforts :Surrender1:

at the moment...

if i stay for 2-3months ill spend 15,000 or so on a condo :Evil_Grin2:

I've stayed at the Superior room at August Suites. I've visited the Executive Suite and that's a really nice room and big. I'm not sure it's 80 sqm though. But anyway, I'd love to spend a week there.

I was offered 2400/night last year for the Exec suite when I enquired. But I needed to book for 1 week to have that fare.

I understand what you mean...True that. When you taste the comfort, it's hard to go back. That's what happened to me when I slept in Hilton hotel for two nights. Unfortunately I can't afford to spend much money in hotel in Patts, so I would stick to the 1400-2000 bht range. I would go up if my salary goes up

I was at August Suite last week, end of August 2011

pros: fairly new and clean hotel

friendly staff

guest friendly

cons:

pool water tasted like soap and very slippery around the pool which seems to be lack of cleaning

rooms are not very big

breakfast is limited to: eggs or omelet, toast with jam or butter, coffee or oj, my booking was with breakfast included for 2 but I was only given coupon for 1, so make sure you get coupons for 2, I paid around 50 to 100 baht for my guest which is not much, but paying again for something that you already paid is not very smart.

laundry took 3 days to deliver 2 pairs of pants and 2 shirts.

one dark skin guy at the reception can really bs the guest, first I saw him arguing with one guest about a room rate, then he bs me about my laundry when I asked him by the end of the 2nd day, why it was taken so long?, his response was " they are pressing them right now and they'll bring it to your room as soon as they're finish" needless to say I got my clothes back the 3rd day.

so in IMHO I won't recommend this hotel

so far best beach villa in soi 5 and markland hotel in soi 1,have been really fastastic,

best beach villa is new and big rooms, their laundry service is fast, breakfast buffet

Markland hotel, has big rooms is not new but has some spectacular views from the restaurant and if you are lucky you'll get a room in the top floors, breakfast is also buffet although their hours are early 7-10am

both of this hotel have friendly staff and are guest friendly

Wow...thanks for your report on this hotel. I've heard only rave reviews on August Suites, so far. So, either things are just starting to go downhill (since they are now successful that could be the ransom of success) ,either your experience was a one off experience. Your comment just show that perfection is impossible and August Suites is far from that.

From my experience, the hotel is good and I'll have no problem recommending it. But maybe next time I'll stay there, I would be disappointed too and stop recommending it.

Yes, all the reviews have said the breakfast wasn't worth the extra cash.

As for paying for your guest, why did you pay what you already paid? Did discuss that with Paul (the cambodian dark skin manager) ? If so, want was their answer ?

I don't like their policy of charging 500 bht for the second guest, which could prevent me from staying there in the future. Because, now that I tasted what a threesome is like, I want to experience it many more times.

I've never given my laundry to them so I can't say nothing about it. I just compare their prices with the one of one shop I know in Soi buakhao and thought it wasn't worth it.

Since my experience there has matched the good reviews that many has done about it...I would keep it at the top of my list. But would probably give it a pass prices have really gone up or if service starts going downhill. They're are many good hotels. Price and service quality was what made it a very good option.

True but you can always negotiate a price with the hotel directly.

Not always. Some hotels would even advise you to book through their websites to have a better deal. I've experienced that with AA One, Baywalk residence, and Page 10, so far.

Also, booking the first nights through Agoda or hotels websites could be pretty handy for a first time visitor who don't know jack shit about Pattaya and hasn't done their homework by visiting any of the many websites related to Thailand.

For my first trip in LOS, I booked my hotels in BKK and my condo in Patts prior to arriving. I was a member on a new french mongering website and there was very little info on mongering in Thailand (at that time) and nothing related to accommodation in LOS. I was the one who started the thread on accommodation by asking advice. Since then, the thread has got many pages of recommendations.

I would book in advance in any country I'm not familiar with. Sometimes it's even cheaper to book long time ahead. Indeed the prices could go up from the time you booked to the time you actually travel.

I stayed at the LK Rennaissance which I thought was a great room, with a jacuzzi tub, bed super comfortable, nice rain shower. Just not a big fan of their swimming pool. I paid a walk in rate of 2800 baht per night in high season. I hope someone can list a place with a nice pool maybe overlooking the city or beach, and good rooms. Most important to me is a nice bed since that's where most of my room time is spent.

Has anyone stayed in the Areca Lodge recently. I booked for November because of the large pool, but I read the pool may be closed and there is construction going on.

According to agoda stats, these are the top 14 hotels in Pattaya that our forum members stay at. (not in order)

Most of these hotels get full especially during high season, so its good to prebook them early! Then you don't need to find another hotel (disturb your mongering) and so you don't use your short time cash on hotel funds.

They are all girl friendly, if any policies change on that, I will remove them from our poll.

for a long stay, i stay at www.selinaplace.com , not too far from Walking Street, quiet street.

For a month in low season, costs like 11 000 bath everything included.

Very clean, nice people, good bed, wifi, no joiner fee.

cons: No pool, no breakfast, not a high end hotel like the ones mentioned in this poll, more a guesthouse place.

Not true.

you can't "always negotiate a price with the hotel directly". I've even seen guys book through Agoda online in the lobby of a hotel because staff was unwilling to match the price shown on Agoda!

About three years ago I was in a hotel off Naklua Road, near Song Wai Amat, and wanted to extend my stay by two days.

I went to reception and was told I would have to pay 2200 Bahts a night, about 450 more than the 1750 I had paid up to now; a web booking on Sawadee.

Receptionist told me to use the guest computer and book again on Sawadee.

No problem, 1750 again!

I went for the LK royal suite just ahead of tim boutique, only reason it's got huge looms and massive bathloom with spa bath.

Girls love the spa bath.. :GrinNod1:

Tim boutique is in a better location with the awesome tim bar nextdoor .. :Chokdee5:

Siam Bayview offer great location on beach road and many rooms with seaview, 2 pools and quality restaurant, open in 1982 but many renovation since. A great hotel, really first class intenational standard, with large garden from beach to second road, even i prefer the Siam Bayshore because in walking street and more large garden. Not really girl friendly usually 1000 bahts joiner if you don't book a double room.

Aha, not girl friendly.

Adms, pls remove from the list.

Why would anyone not book a room as a double room to avoid the joiner fee is beyond me.

I'm quite okay with the Sunshine Hotel and Residences. Someday I might explore the other hotels in the area, but this one is smack dab in the middle of everything that I'm interested in.

I got a report this morning from friends living in Pattaya, they telling me that the LK Legends in now the new hangout for Iranian and Indian groups. The LK Legend property is divided in 4 buildings identified as A B C D,originaly built to be sold as condominium, since the sales are not going doing too well building C and D are now promotes as Serviced Apartments to International tour operators. This is not so good for those who purchased units at the beginning before that policy change. To make a long stoty short, the LK Legend is now more like an hotel which is not making residents happy, the problems and noise generated by these groups are forcing numerous owners to put their condo for sale. I don't think that Agoda hotels will notify customers about that current situation.

can you add some info on joiner fees... i know from experience that August and April are charging 500 Baht for each additional guest above the double occupancy, even if just for a quick visit during the day.

come again...

Useful thread. Will give BMs like myself, who are relatively new to Pattaya, other hotel options. Useful to hear everyone's opinions about where they stay, plus the links at the top post.
