just asking best way from Patts to Surat Thani.

can you get boat and if so how much?

There are no boats from Surat Thani to anywhere except the local islands.

So you will have to go through Bangkok.

There are buses from the Southern bus station or you can catch the train to Phun Phin and then catch the bus to Surat Thani.

From Surat Thani, you had best book train tickets at the agents as early as possible.

Are you actually going to Surat Thani or Koh Samui ? If KS, you can fly from Utapao to KS on Bangkok Air. Prolly expensive though. You can fly to ST from BKK on Air Asia and Nok and take a ferry to the islands. This option will be cheaper. Nok sells plane & boat combos. Think about the efficiency of your routing. It might be better to do Pattaya last. wj

Mmm there's a couple of ways to get there but the quickest way but not the cheapest is to fly from pattaya to samui and then take the ferry to Donsak. Or you take a taxi to bkk and fly with nokair or air asia straight to the surath airport.
