Just wanted to start a forum about Thappaya road.

 

Any thing new that opens shall be put on this forum and also details of what's going on.

 

Its full of art gallery's and has a few cheap decent hotels.

Also a language school which teaches Russian, English and Thai.

 

There is also Mikes Mexican which is great value for money.

Other restaurants include russia, Thai, European and Iran

 

Will be trying to keep an up to date forum with anything new happening in Thappaya

Good question. I think the answer is no. The last time I went to Jomtien (June 11), the Pattaya end looked pretty good, but the Jomtien end was terrible. I moved from Jomtien to Pattaya 2 years ago. One of the reasons was all the construction on Thappraya Road. I miss my nice, quiet condo, but definitely do not miss all the road construction. I suspect the businesses along Thappraya got hit really bad because of the road work.

The road works between Pattaya and the Chateau Dale area are almost done.

The T-junction Thappraya - Thepprasit Road is still under full construction.

The T-junction Thapparaya - Jomtien 2nd Road and Jomtien Beach Road is almost finished.

I'll give it another 2 or 3 months and then everything should be finished and ready for the first repairs of potholes

These road works have been going on for a very long time I think.

I was there in March and they were happening.

Are they still going on now????

 

I know one business on there....Rose Apple Massage. Tammy's new shop (from Yellow House) I will make sure I visit this place on my next up and coming trip.

The basic Jomtien 2nd Road is finished to Chaiyopreuk Rd. but they have had to dig up and rebuild several sections already. The worst was near the Rompho market and even after they rebuilt it it is still prone to flooding on a heavy rain. I am afraid Thappraya road will suffer the same fate with patchwork being done aleady. Why did they dig up the intersection at Threppasit Road again?

You gotta love Thai engineering!

This is Thailand. Are you surprised that it takes a long time for the roadworks to be completed?

Yes, the continual fannying about with the road system is an absolute menace, particularly as the Thai drivers (and some farang) take no notice of the regulations. If they can sneak in, then they do, which doesn't help the traffic flow for everyone else.

 

Thappraya Road is a road full of quality restaurants and businesses. My favourites are Mata Hari, Manhattans, Cafe des Amis, Brunos, Gians and News Cafe. All pricey but with excellent cuisine and varied menues. Check out their websites and you will get an idea of the cost, variance and location. The Captain's Corner and Linda's are two more restaurants popular with visitors. Alois is at the Pattaya end of Thappraya, which I have not tried yet, but it has a good pedigree.

 

Plenty happening on the connecting road to Jomtien - seek out and enjoy. Bon appetite !!!

Yes I am suprised after seeing second road south of Pattaya Tai get dug up and resurfaced in months. The Mayor had the monks and dignitaries out in force to get that portion completed on time. It has been 5 years on the Thappraya Road extension - I don't think the powers to be at City Hall give a rats ass about Jomtien. The hardships on the local business's has been incredible. When they resurfaced the Sukhimvet they also did that more efficiently.

The roadworks at Jomtien will now to be called "The Chunburi Roadworkers Training Academy". And some of you thought it was nearly over!

I was hanging onto the back of a baht bus as we came into Jomtien a couple of months back and it was like a ride on the big dipper. From then on I just got off before the intersection and walked. The main street of Jomtien (past the Jomtien complex) is almost dead at the moment which has to have a lot to do with those roadworks.

 

If it lasts for another year all the bars and other businesses will probably close never to reopen. I went through there 3 months apart and absolutely nothing seemed to have been achieved. Once I saw a guy on his own digging a hole. Didnt seem to be a whole lot of system to it.

It's a bit better now. The junction at the Hanuman Statue is almost complete and the new t-junction will be through traffic onto Jomtien 2nd road and a turn towards Jomtien Beach.

The only thing that needs to be done, is the T-junction Thappraya - Thepprasit, cleaning up and road marks. Should be no problem, but hey......TiT.

I live halfway up Thappraya Road and i wish it was up and coming. Yes the road is ALMOST finished but most of the businesses have been driven away. There's a couple of decent bars and SOHO bar but not much else. Let's hope it improves now the road is better.

Nothing up and coming about Thrappraya Rd. Only business of significance off it is Residence Garden and is the route to Kinnaree.
