I think 40 baht is reasonable if she is doing a good job. Instead of handing her the tip directly, just leave it on your pillow before you leave your room. The maids will understand that it is a tip meant for them.

 

I usually tip 100 baht on the first day to get on her good side, so when I request extra towels or when I start waking up later in the afternoon making her wait to clean my room, she doesn't get too upset with me, lol! The following days I tip 20 baht a day & on my last day I tip 100 baht if she did a good job.
