Ko Samui - Where to travel from

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on going to Ko Samui (1st trip there, but 6th to LOS) for 5 days or so in October but I have yet to decide whether to fly from Bangkok or Pattaya.

I'd prefer to fly from Patts as its a shorter flight (about an hour I believe) plus I want to stay in Patts when I return, but I would imagine the number of flights to/from Patts would be a lot lower than Bangkok/Samui.

Any recommendations? Was there much in the difference in the flight prices?

Also planning on staying in Am_Samui Palace hotel in Latai which is around 1800 baht per night...anyone stay there or can recommend hotel.

Thanks guys

Yep, that's true, better go Air Asia to Surat, you get the nice ferry ride too.

I don't know that resort but just Googled it and it looks real nice. Lamai is the best beach to stay IMO, the beach is better for swimming and the nightlife is more compact than Chaweng.

October can be a dicey month weatherwise, if the monsoon comes in early, as it did one time I was there in Oct. If you're going beginning of Oct should be OK but if at end of Oct then be prepared for some heavy rain and rough seas.

Just did a search with Air Asia/Thai Airways and Bangkok Air and the flights were roughly €240 per person which means €480 as you'll have to pay for the TG. I thought I could get them a good bit cheaper for some reason. Oh well...

I think I'll be forgetting about Koh Samui and staying in Patts as a result.

Thanks for your help.

Stay in Patts. No need to go to Samui, you can go to Koh Samet or Koh Chang, which are nearer to Pattaya, BF a little sweetie from a bar to take with you, can get the minivan from Patts for a cheap price, have you at Koh Samet in a couple hours, bit longer to Koh Chang.

Check out my tripreport from last april to Samui Lamai beach and Pattaya.

Plenty of information and pictures of all you need.

I just fly with Bangkok airways. A little more expensive but no time waiste for ferry or flying to Surrathani!

A good girl gives you happiness and a bad girl gives you experience both are essential in life so enjoy every girlfriend!

Bangkok Air is currently showing a one way from Pattaya UTP to Samui at 3610 baht for certain dates in October. Not the cheapest way to go but hey, it's easy!

Ive usually just flown with Bangkok Airways - as ive found Air Asia to be too unreliable with Flight times - meaning if ya too late getting into Thani on the day - ya may miss the ferrys to samui..

That and ive always had great flights with Bangkok Airways

Fly from Patts to koh Samui, its easier.....

And you will enjoy Am Sumai Palace hotel, its in a great spot with terrific staff.

They hold the ladies id, fuck, they even fingerprinted one girl (I am talking about the head receptionist), not the police..

Another option is to take the train down from Bangkok to Sura Thaini and than the ferry over to Koh Samui. It is a 13 hour journey, but if you take the night train (think it leaves around 8:30pm) you can sleep most of the way. If you get a sleeper car and bring a girl you can fuck her all night on the train too. That is what I did :GoldenSmile1:

I think it cost me about 1,400bt per person for 2nd class sleeper/bus/ferry ticket.
