Gyms in Pattaya

There are many Gyms in Pattaya, catering for everyone across the spectrum, from Iron shops on waste ground used by Thais, going onto places Like Tony's then the health/gym centres in most big hotels. California Gyms have just opened their latest Branch here in Pattaya, opposite Royal Garden. A1 have a branch in the Ship hotel on Soi 4.

So there is ample available, from 400 Baht a month up to 5,000 a month, for location equipment etc I suspect that Tony's cannot be beaten for value for short time visitors.

A word of warning: California Wow is soliciting new memberships for a gym that will allegedly open at the Avenue Pattaya (Soi 13, across the street from Lek hotel, ground level at Major Cineplex). At this time, I would consider it to be a scam. The gym will not open until the end of October. There isn't a machine or weight set within the gym. Yet, they have a large crew of salespersons grabbing people out of the shopping center and trying to sell memberships that start immediately. This may very well end up being a legitimate venture, but I consider it to be a ponzi scheme at this time, as you are paying for a membership, and the closest gym is located in Bangkok.

Here's their website:

Another word of warning. All ads(in english) for Tonys Gym with fantastic deals only applies for Thai people.

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that involves paying abnormally high returns ("profits") to investors out of the money paid in by subsequent investors, rather than from net revenues generated by any real business.

Personally I would think the above statement, (in quotes), to be a dangerous. They are not selling memberships that start now, all memberships sold start from the time the gym opens, correctly stated as October. The contract states clearly Pattaya, although you do get access to California WOW Gyms in other locations. It is normal practice for such gymnasium's to market themselves in this way, the company itself is an international one and as such has all the accepted systems to protect its name against libel.

Just a thought.

OK have looked at both gym in ship shaped building on Beach and Tony's on 3rd Road. For me as someone who likes to lift weights Tony's is far better. Lots more choice and more free weights. Also cheaper only 200 baht for a single visit compared to the other one at 500 baht for a single.

The ship gym offered me and a friend a weekly for 3k if we joined together otherwise 3200 for one week.

The ship has 2 nice pools can use as well as other nice facilites. Ton'ys is far more basic and less luxurious, more for the serious trainer.

Just so you know, I am a lawyer, and am thoroughly familiar with defamation and libel laws. First off, it is a ponzi scheme. As a prospective member, you are a secondary investor in the gym's future facility. The original investors in the venture pocket your membership fees, maybe they use some of them to build a gym, maybe not. The gym is collecting money on an unenforceable promise to provide access to their gym facility in Pattaya. If you knew anything about contracts in Thailand, you would know that the contract is unenforceable, as they can merely plead they were selling a membership in their gym in Bangkok. I read the contract, I know. Nice loophole, huh. Let's say they actually get the gym built. If the gym is a farce, do you have any recourse? No. What happens if, as in Hawaii, the gym goes out of business within six months of opening. Do you have any recourse? No.

Truth is an absolute defense to defamation and libel. Moreover, as stated in my original post, it may turn out to be a perfectly legitimate venture. I was just giving my opinion, based upon past experience in this particular industry, that the venture could operate as a ponzi scheme, if the gym is never completed, or closes shortly after being completed.

Anyway, I hope no BM's would purchase a membership for a gym where they first can't see the equipment and gym layout.

I've had no DIRECT experience with CA WOW! but my TG says several friends have been members of the BKK branch and were VERY unhappy. Said their was always pressure to buy additional things/services like 'personal training', etc.

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

Due to low numbers of people in town, I will start the meetings in our bars to help our girls and managers, please check back often incase things are changed.  I will be sharing the love around town later, but Soi 6 is first on my list (including bars that are friendly competition)
If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
