hi all

only new here Im a 36 year old quad in a wheelchair due to a motor bike accident 5 years ago. For the last couple of months I have been planing a trip over there, and have organised a local bkk girl to look after me whyle over ther and have booked flightes leaving Australia on the 6th of september for 1 month. one of my close mates who has just spit with his misses of 15 years has decide to come along for a week for the ride of a life time hopfully. havnt realy got a itinery want to go with the flow but myself and the girl from bkk will be spending at least a week down in Pattaya befor heading off to Phuket so anny advice would be apreciated. well about my self im a incomplete quad wich basicaly means I have got quiet good use of my upper body but just lack strenght so not quiet a paraplegic. I get around by the use of an electric wheelchair that is alost 4x4 and can get it of the pavement and in some quiet of the track places ie on beaches over rought terrain and so on. I tranfer by the use of a patient hoist and use a shower comode chair for toilet and showering to whch are quiet hard to find over there. hire is basicly non exsistent lol aparently I can buy the comode chair in bangkok no problems but no advice on the hoist as yet so might be roughting it lol any advice on getting a hold of one would be great. other than that all is good looking forwardd to having a great time should be down Pattaya about the 10th any hotel and bar recomendations would be great.

Hello and welcome aboard. Plenty of good advice here. One things for certain and that is that you will have a blast

Welcome to the forums mate.

You will have the time of your life in Pattaya. :)

Does the local BKK girl know what she is getting into by going to Pattaya?

Hope you don't scare the poor girl too much.

There are BM meet-ups every Friday night in Pattaya .

I will be in town in first half of Sept so may see you about or at the Friday meeting if you can make it.

One thing that struck me when I got to Thailand the first time how high the curbs are, they can be like 20cm high. So that might be an inconvinience for you in some places. At the same time I have seen quite a few guys on electric wheelchairs in Pattaya and it seems to work for them so I think you`ll be fine.

Yeah, I see a few guys in electric wheelchairs out and about when I go for a walk or run. If I remember, I'll try to get some contact info off of one of them. They'd most likely have some good information for the OP.

Hi mate. A warm welcome to the board.

I do not have the answer to your questions, but take a look at the 'Thorn tree Travel forum' who's BM's have experience with disability whilst in Thailand. I am sure someone there will be able to answer your questions.
