Hi all.

I am arriving in Pattaya on the 23rd Dec and I am looking for a hotel near Walking Street but not expensive.

Last time I was there I stayed at the Baywalk Residence. Great hotel but in December to expensive for me.

So what I need to know is has anyone stayed at these 2 hotels?

I know they are right in the middle of the action but which one is the best? Can you get any sleep in either hotel. Which is the noisiest. Are there certain rooms that are quieter than others?

Of the 2 I like the look of the Green View but I will listen to all advice.

Thanks in advance.

I stayed at the Grand 2 years ago. The rooms were clean but the decor was old and dated. I had a room on the top floor facing the soi. No problem with noise but i tend to stay out late. I would not be in any rush to go back there.

Never stayed at the Green View so can't comment on that place.

Internet wifi is 800b. a bit strange. Stayin 2 month or one day, it is 800b to get the code (that's what they told me).

Hiya

I have stayed at the Greenview Apartments as I too wanted to be close to the action on Walking St.

It was 800 baht for the standard rooms. No joiner fees.Free WiFi and 2 bottled water.

The rooms were basic but very clean.Good water pressure and AC.The bed and furniture were satisfactory.

The music and noise from the 2 Go-Go-Bars across and below the Guesthouse and be annoying if you are an early sleeper. The music can be heard in the rooms every time the doors from the Go-Go-bars are opened! The noise level is slightly less in the rooms round the corner of the landing and the rooms on the 3rd Level. However there is no Lifts so your TG will need to walk up 3 flights of stairs.

If you do not plan to go to bed before 3am you will find it suitable for your needs.

Have fun Buddy.

I've stayed at the Grand in high season. No notable noise. The hotel is tired, really needs a face lift. Safety deposit boxes in reception. You best make up your mind and book sooner then later. Low priced rooms will be gone if not already, for that time of year.

Have you considered Jasmine? http://www.jasminehotel-pattaya.com/booking/rezeasy.html

Cheers guys.

On these reports the Grand hotel will just about win out.

Anymore recommendations?

I've stayed at both and prefer The Grand even though it is more expensive. I liked the elevator at the Grand and the wifi was surprisingly good. Also the views are better.

I would not want to stay at either for an extended period of time, but for a week or less either would do.

Thanks Paganheart (love the name)

I'll be staying for 10 days over Christmas and New Year. Do you think that would be to long for that sort of place?

I'm used to not expensive places anyway and at this time of year the Grand is within my budget.

What room did you stay in? Was it quiet?

Cheers.
