my favorite thai food by far is green curry chicken. the place that i always used to go appears to be closed now, so i'm hoping that there are some other green curry chicken aficionados on here that can tell me a good place to go for one. any suggestions?

I am sure you can get good ones all over the place but i had an outstanding green curry chicken on 2nd road last month. Cant recall the name but but it is about 100 metres south of Central Festival and on the same side. A typical small open air type of place. I think that curry cured my hangover.

The best green curry I've had in my life was from a street vendor on Soi Diana. I was walking with a BG when she stopped and said we have to get this curry. You should definitely try street food there. I think in general, the Thai street food is better quality than most Thai restaurants here in the US because the ingredients are fresher in LOS and over there, they make their food for Thai taste with full flavor (spicy, sour, a little sweet, etc.) instead of the toned down Thai food we have here in the West. I try to avoid Thai restaurants in LOS with many farang customers because I know that the flavor will probably be more Westernized and less spicy and flavorful. If that's your thing, then go for it. I'd rather stick to street food and the places recommended to me by thai girls there.

Beach side of 2nd Road between Mikes Plaza and Soi 10 are 3 open air type places. I preferred the one at the back nearest to the beach.

If it flies, floats or fucks - it will be cheaper to rent !

I saw that street vendor by the beer bar complex there, across from Soi LK Metro. There's also a great green curry place in the night market on Soi Buakow.

I love the green curries in Thai, except for one thing, what the hell of those small green pea like things. They're slightly hard and a bit bitter.

Had a very nice green curry in Woodlands hotel restaurant in Naklua. I tend to stick with Panang Chicken though. nit noi spicey.

LOL I like them in a curry but they need to be cooked fairly well. They are baby aubergines.

they are called makua puang in thai, they are a baby eggplant/aubergine. the idea is the bitterness balances out some of the sweetness of the curry.

Best green chicken curry was in Sukhumvit Soi 8 Bangkok in a place called the Monsoon Cafe

there used to be an awesome makeshift thai kitchen diagonally opposite the Dawin hotel soi 4

they made the best food... gone now..

I thought that's what they were.

Kiss food makes an ok / low cost green curry, except for these little aubergines.

They are too hard - I usually leave them.

In fact this IS a good question! If you travelled around a lot, you must know th green curry is not the same everywhere. I always ahve much bettr in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. In Pattaya, and mostly in Phuket, the green curry, that normal is oily has that eggplant, becomes a taste less soup! I not find one place were the green curry is terrific!

So good addresses are welcome!

I loved the green curry at hole in the wall (next to the gold shop) by the exit from LK Metro out to Buakhaow. But I read here the other day that the owner died so not sure if they are open yet?

I've been savouring the yellow curry chicken twice this week at the top of LK Metro, on Soi Baoukow beside the gold shop...delicious

TBH i rarely see thai ppl eating green curry, they are usually eating gaeng nor mai, gaeng kua, gaeng som or gaeng dtai bplaa, none of which are you the usual red/green/yellow/massaman curries that most ppl know about. probably most places making green curry are making it for farang

Two nights ago, I ate Green Curry with chicken (Gaeng Khiaw Wan Gai) at P72 Restaurant on Walking Street. Tasted pretty good to me. I think they used a bit more coconut milk than others that I have eaten. So it may not satisfy everyone's taste.

If you want this dish or any other Thai food spicy/hot you can say to the waiter/waitress "aow ped ped, kap" (I want it spicy) or say "chob gin ahaan ped ped, kap" (I like spicy food).
