I went to Pattaya last year and had great fun. I am planning going again possibly later this year.

After reading some of your stories, I was wondering, how exactly and where do those Islands located that everyone goes to? Are there any reservations needed? I want to take one or two beauties with me for couple of days, but have no idea how and where.

Any help please?

PS. I am aware of the closest island with ferry that takes about 40-min to an hour to get there, are there any other ones that I can spend a night or two?

Hi Sergio,

The nearest island is Koh Larn which is 40 mins away on the ferry which costs 40 baht each way,You can get this from the pier past the end of Walking Street. A great day out with your lady of the moment the 2 beaches close to where you dock are good but if you hire a moped you can a couple of very nice beaches.

Koh Samat= This is the next island to try about 2 hours away by road then a ferry from Ban Phe.You can just about do a day trip here but would recommend a couple of days here as the beaches are amazing. Take a lady with you as there is not much of a scene in samat.Use agodo for making Reservations.

Koh Chang(elephant Island)= This is the largest of the islands around pattaya this is about 6 hours by road to Laem Ngop where you get a ferry. This is a great place for 4-5 day visit with lady. Rainforests and beaches abound,One word of Caution about KC is that you will NEED to care with Malaria and mosquitos.

Both KS and KC you can arrange transport to and from Pattaya while you are there. Any number of travel agents will help with this in Patts.

Find Right Girl that you connect with sort out accomodation through agodo talk to travel agent. 2-3 Days away from patts.beautiful.

Hope this helps

Be Well Dave

I would suggest Koh Samet. I spent a week there Sep. '10, my last trip. It has some awsome beaches, cool little dinners / clubs on the beaches. Fire shows at night at some of them. Check out Koh Samet Resort. VERY nice place to stay. Hope this helps and hope you have a blast when you go. :001_Sawasdee:

some company, I would recommend Vongduern beach 2 hours on a bus then 40 mins on the ferry about 500 bht from pattaya

here is a web site for vongduern resort My link

the best bar on the beach is owned by a Dutch guy called Robert and is called the Bay Watch Bar they have a web site here

My link. Its a very nice place to chill after being in Pattaya

Koh Larn is about 30 minutes by boat as I remember and you can get this from the pier which is cheaper or any boat on Pattaya beach. You pay for the sun chair and there is usually a restaurant or people carrying food to sell. Good day out.

There's also Ko Si Chang. Ferries go from Si Racha, 30km north of Pattaya, straight up Sukhumvit. The ferry takes about half an hour and costs 40 baht. It's a small island with no beaches worth mentioning, so not as touristy as the others, but accommodation isn't a problem provided you avoid weekends immediately before or after Thai public holidays. It's pretty quiet and there's next to no nightlife. The main attraction is the temple. It's a "get away from it all" kind of place. One night is probably right for most people.

For islands with beaches, Ko Laan is best for a day trip or one or two nights, as the boats go direct from Pattaya. Ko Samet is good for a few nights, as it's quick and easy to get there, only a couple of hours by minibus and the ferries are frequent. Ko Chang is good for longer periods, takes a while to get there but it's much bigger and when you think you've seen it all there's a bunch of smaller islands that can be accessed direct from Ko Chang itself.

Ko Chang has full-blown car ferries. The Ko Laan ferry will carry motorbikes (I guess they might baulk at a Harley though). The regular Ko Samet and Ko Si Chang ferries are pedestrian only, but both islands are easy to get around on foot.
