Bangla is truly the hot spot in Phuket. Have been there april 2010. But the area keeps developing in such a high speed it is hard to keep up with the changes!

A good girl gives you happiness and a bad girl gives you experience both are essential in life so enjoy every girlfriend!

Thanks for the pics.

Will be back there in a month.

Never seems to be many people in Soi Seadragon...

May just be the whole "new" thing, taking people time to warm to it.

How is the new Tiger building coming along???

Activity starts about 9.00 PM, but doesn't really kick in until an hour or two later. I gather they have been quite strict about 2.00 AM closing of late, but that can change.

The new soi seadragon is a good addition to Patong and some good go gos there too.

Has anyone been to Patong recently and able to confirm current closing times of the bars and discos? I've heard it now 2am and no later?

Can anyone confirm this and if its just a temp thing or set to last? I'm deciding how long to spend in Phuket next trip and this is not ideal considering things don't get going there until late.

I missed the post above somehow and that mentions the 2am closing being strict. But some more responses would be good. this mentions it too....hopefully it will be more relaxed later in the year!

I was there at the end of February and the closing times were still a pretty strict 2:00am. I suspect that many of the hotels in the Bangla Road area are putting some pressure on the city. I have stayed close to Bangla several times and it is loud until around 3:00 (even with the 2:00am closing times). While this doesn't really bother me, because I'm probably out making noise, I can see where the families on vacation might be trying to avoid the hotels that are close to the action.

Yeah, I can understand the noise being a problem considering a lot of holiday makers in Patong are 'normal' tourists who may not be up until the early hours.

Its just a bit annoying as a lot of the tourists there will still be in town for the nightlife. Will continue to monitor it over the coming months but may stay in Patts longer if the 2am shut down remains.

Cheers for the response.

going to sound a little off here, but does anyone still bother with pooket? or more to the point why does anyone bother?

Who is fit to govern others?

He who governs himself. ?

You might as well have said: nobody.

Yeah, I love the place! Probably more then Patts. Guess its because its got more of a holiday feel to it with the beach, nicer place etc. Even though its great for the girls and nightlife, I personally never feel on holiday when in Pattaya so always split between the 2.

As far as I can tell Phuket has two major drawbacks - it's more expensive than most places in Thailand (I have heard it's the most expensive place) and the tuktuk/taxi mafia are the meanest nastiest robbing bastards in Thailand. Nonetheless I'm probably heading down to Phuket next week, for the same reasons Hammers24 says. And I do have my own car so won't be dealing at all with the assholes.

true about the tuktuks mate, but I find I spend a lot less money in Phuket than anywhere else, nightlife orientated. BKK and Pattaya I tend to go a bit nuts, Phuket (Karon) I tend to chill out a bit, settle down with a regular and relax. Granted I have noticed beer is more expensive there (100 THB a beer at most beer bars), but for whatever reason, I find it cheaper than the rest.

Very nice photos. Is the new Tiger disco open yet? When I was there in Februrary, only the lower beer bar was open.
