Landslide Win To PTP

Well Takky wanted to close all the bars at 10PM but he got too much resistance, then he tried for midnight but got too much resistance, so he settled for 2AM. So if kid sister is anything like big bro then we can look forward to some party-pooperness from her, that's provided she wins, not certain at the present moment but we'll know soon.

Beyond doubt she has won with a huge majority , surprised not much interest on PA to this, as it will affect our lives for sure

Why even if she was to close down all the bars, change the closing times ? it will only mean more FL's walking the streets and we would not have to pay a BF so it would work out cheaper for us, there is no way they can clean up Pattaya as the problem is to big, plus they would lose a lot of revenue from tourist if they tried to.

Going to be interesting times ahead, seeing what changes will happen. I'd say for sure old Takky will be sliding back in soon, he said himself his sister is just his "clone" First thing will be clearing up his charges, after that he'll arrive back, he take a back seat of course, but the reality is baby sister is just a glove puppet and Takky's hand is right up her ass making her lips move.

I imagine we'll see the classic moves of any populist. debt financed social programs, lots of pillaging behind the scenes, plum positions for supporters and eventually stagnation.

Just wondering what will happen to the night-life with a woman PM, don't look good

In the short run, not much save the bargirls may be happier (most come from PT strongholds). I've had conversations with a number of bargirls and almost all I spoke with spoke of Thaksin with reverence. One exception was anti-Thaksin. I also seriously doubt PT will impact the P4P scene as it results in an economic influx to their supporters. I would be more worried about other changes impacting the bar scene.

In the long run if PT succeeds in increasing economic opportunities for those in the North and Northeast, there will be fewer girls and higher prices in the P4P scene. Look at what happened in Estonia. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Estonia was a monger's paradise. Then, 10 to 15 years on as the standard of living improved, mongering options narrowed and became more expensive. It takes a long time for changes like this to happen.

If it happens, theirs always Cambodia and the Philippines. And we have the fall of the iron curtain in North Korea and Cuba and the resulting mongering opportunities to look forward to.

I don't anticipate those policies succeeding in the long term. I think it'll be more of kleptocracy with good rhetoric and in the end a worsening economy.

Kleptocracy and increasing standard of living are not mutually exclusive. Look at China, probably the world's largest kleptocracy, which has succeeded in raising the standard of living of its citizens (faster than Thailand).

The people that voted for PT and to some degree idolize Thaksin would not have done so had they not perceived their economic lot improving when they were previously in power. Had the Democrats done a better job than the Thaksin aligned governments of raising the standard of living for Thailand's poor, they would still be in office.

I just hoped we don't get another another red shirts vs yellow shirts civil war. Not good for their economy and not good for the people. In any case there seems to be a great deal of corruption in the government. The politicians will get richer whereas the poor will be neglected again.
