Welcome Plaza

In recent years I have stayed at the Welcome Plaza. Part of it's attraction is it's location. It's just perfect for me. Anyway I have stayed there 12 times and have always booked room only. There website does advetise an American Brakfast at an additional cost of 100 Baht per person per day. I always like to have breakfast elsewhere so I never book there breakfasts.

Anyway I will be arriving in Pattaya on the 31st July and will be spending 20 nights at the Welcome Plaza. When I was at the hotel last December I booked a Junior Suite for my next trip. The hotels website says that it will cost me 1150 Baht a night.

Anyway I normally pay in cash but for my next trip I have decided that I want to pay by credit card. So I sent them an e-mail asking them to confirm that I can pay by credit card. In there reply they have said that it's OK to pay by credit card. And they also mentioned how much the room will cost per night. The e-mail says that I have to pay 1350 Baht a night inclusive of breakfast. There website still says 1150 Baht a night for room only.

I sent them an e-mail back and quired the price and they replied that all rooms now include the breakfast.

So I have now sent them another e-mail pointing out that i am a regular at there hotel and have never had to pay for a breakfast before. It will be interesting to see if they reply. And if they will just let me book room only.

I hope the hotel will see sense and will let me book a room only. Other wise they could lose a regular customer. Basically most of my trips to Pattaya are at the end of July beginning of August. Which is Pattaya's low season and the hotel is never full at this time. So do they want to lose a regular

Logic would suggest just drop the price of the breakfast off and keep the customer happy.

Thai logic however... :Circle_Sharks:

like you i myslef am/was a regular at the Welcome Plaza around 20 times now over the last few years

stayed there last november got room for 850 no breakfast and noticed during that stay that the attitude of the staff has changed for the worst

when i checked in told them take out mini bar which they did also i never paid them in full always paid them may be 3 times during the stay

3 days before i was due to go home i had paid all bills including the half day for late check out and on leaving they had the cheek to ask me for 500 bhat deposit which i nearly blew a gasket i think its a trick to rush you when you are rushing

anyway the 500 bhat i used to give to the girls as a tip but not anymore fed up with them trying to Catch Me

3 off my friends were ther in may and encoutered the same shit now as you must pay for breakfast

im going to patts myself in November and am only going to stay there 2 nights while i sort something else out

im off to a guest house in soi diana area after that

i know Welcome Plaza is handy and that but may be we are creatures of habit now dont like change

but you will get used to a move cause patts is everywhere

so my advice is stay 2/3 nights wekcome plaza and look around

It's a shame that this hotel seems to have changed for the worst. Besides making guests pay for a breakfast they've added 200 Baht to cover the cost of the breakfast. And 200 Baht seems a lot for a breakfast. The hotels website which has not yet been updated still shows a Junior Suite for 1150 B for room only and the American breakfast which is extra is only priced at 100Baht. The hotels policy I think will lose them some of the regular customers. I think thats a shame

I have had another reply from the Welcome Plaza

And I have copied and posted there reply below

Dear Mr.Brian Adams Now hotel policy Include Breakfast If You Not Need Breakfast you much to pay 1050.- Nett. for Standards. room Per Day. Best Regards.Natchaporn S

This reply has got me a bit confused because it starts of by saying that it is now hotel policy to include breakfast but if I understand there reply it goes on to say that if I dont want breakfast I can have a standard room at 1050 B a day. At ther moment I have got a Junior Suite booked. A Junior Suite has a lounge area as well as a bedroom area plus 2 balcony's. A Standard room is just a bedroom. I dont want to go from a Junior Suite to a Standard Room. So I have sent them another e-mail asking them if it is possible to have the junior Suite without the breakfast.

Maybe you could write a song about it. "Summer of '69" was good but "Everything I Do" was shit. No offence.

Last Friday I sent the hotel an e-mail asking of I can just pay for room only.

I've copied my e-mail below

Hi Natchaporn,

I want to keep the Junior Suite that I have already booked.

Would it be possible to have the junior Suite without the breakfast..

When I am in Pattaya I like visiting different Restaurants and not be restricted to just one.

Please keep me in a Junior Suite

And below is there reply

Dear Brian Adams Yes.Sir hotel would like to confirm Junion suit @ 1350.- B. If You Not Need Breakfast and late @ 500.-Check out untill 05.30 pm Best Regards.Natchaporn S

The reply is somewhat confusing. Have they decided to charge me for room only?? There website is still stating that the cost of a Junior Suite is still 1050 B and that price is room only.

I think it's best that I leave it for now and try and sort it out when I first arrive at the hotel on the 31st July.

I like this hotel and hopefully when I first arrive at the hotel I can work my charm on the girl at reception and just pay for Room only.

1350 Baht for a room. you are better off looking for somewhere else and saving 300 baht a day (6000 baht) you could have a lot of fun with this money, I still say you should stay at the Queen Vic lol

I love Soi 6 but there's no way I'm staying at the Queen Vic

jason remember that the welcome Plaza has a swimming pool which might come in handy one afternoon.

  • 6 months later...

I stayed at the Welcome Plaza over christmas and New Year. I enjoyed my stay has usual but the only complaint I've got is that a lot of Russians use this hotel now and they are not a friendly bunch. They dont interact with guests from other countries. They try to get into the lifts whilst people are trying to get out of the lifts. The staff don't seem to like them because they appear very blunt when dealing with the staff plus they never tip the staff
