Anyone flown before with Turkish Airlines?

I can get a cheapo flight with them for the start of October for €650 Dublin-Istanbul Ataturk-Bangkok.

Everything else so far is €850 or so......Goddamn oil prices

I flown Turkish a couple of time from EU to Singapore, both on Economy and Business, and find them quit good. Foods allright, inseat entertainment acceptable and if the layover isn't that bad and price is right I'll say just go for it

i have flown from dublin via istanbul a couple of years ago, and everything was perfect!

watch their prices as they can be either very reasonable or quite outlandish, there seems to be no inbetween !

also keep an eye on etihad, by far the best carrier !

Etihad are looking for €920 at the moment. They were only looking for €750 about 2 weeks ago :(

I'd have used Aerlingus/China Airlines except the return journey which stops in Schipol has an extra 8 hr stopover, but the price was good.

Turks 8/10 - 23/10 €652 at the moment. Dont know whether I should wait and see if the Etithad prices come down or just book with Turkish now.

I'm looking at similar times to go either Dub or Belfast to BKK.

Turkish looks tempting but via BHD to BKK theres a deal on ebookers , BMI to LHR , then the direct Eva to BKK. 680 STG at the moment.

In 2009 used Eva and was impressed.

Flew Etihad last time, they would be my number one choice but their prices and the cost of parking at DUB is just too expensive.

I used them in March 2010

Outbound:

Bangkok - Istanbul, Airbus A 340

short stopover in Istanbul

Istanbul - Berlin, small mid range Airbus = narrow seats

Inbound:

Berlin - Istanbul, small mid range Airbus = narrow seats

extremely long stopover in Istanbul of 8 hrs.

Istanbul – Bangkok, Airbus A 340

Service:

average

no restrictions on alcoholic drinks

some noisy groups of Turkish guys on the route Bangkok – Istanbul - Bangkok

BEER: HELPING UGLY PEOPLE HAVE SEX SINCE 3000 B.C.

I travelled with Turkish Airlines just this May. Remember those shitty coaches used for school trips? Well the plane reminded me of one those coaches but with wings. Blue cracked plastic seats, crap inflight entertainment, generally a bit grotty. Would pay an extra £150 not to use em. Emirates for me if available.

I'd still go with em tbf mate. Just not as impressed with em as I was with Thai Air and Emirates. 400 euros too much off a diff to ignore, few bf's there chap.

Hope this helps - http://www.skyscanner.net/

£767 here but that includes hanging about the airport for hours on end.

Arrived today and flew TK from IAD-IST-BKK with about a 3 1/2 hour layover in IST. I used points and flew business. It was pretty good all in all. Arrived in BKK about 45 min late so not bad. Food was really good. First leg was a A343 and second was a A332. From what I read on flyer talk they change equipment at the last minute often so I guess it can be inconsistent.

Turkish is OK in that its in the air and on the ground when its supposed to be. Food in cattle class is abysmal.

IST-BKK breakfast consisted of some sort of roti that looked like a McDonalds afterthought. timings are usually good

though as has been said check the layover times. Worst thing is staff attitude, most walk round like they've just been sacked.

Best thing is its not a 'dry' flight and the best air miles scheme by far. Having said all that I still use them a lot.

I was looking at using them from Dublin but after researching it a bit and finding no personal entertainment system and smaller seats I decided to stick with Etihad as they have it all.

Turkish short haul have no in seat entertainment, just a 6" screen from the ceiling every few rows. Long haul has good at seat entertainment.

Didn't know about seats, what's the difference?

Etihad is very good, much better all round except you need 8 round trips to get a free flight. Turkish is only 6.
