Air France opinions needed...

Air France have a great offer at the moment from DUB to BKK connecting in CDG.

The quick hop then a straight 11 hr flight appeals to me, the flight/transfer times are much better than LHR.

Anyone flown Air France? I assume as a national carrier it would be fine.

Is the alcohol as free flowing as Eva/Etihad?

Any comments on CDG airport?

I'm about to book!!! Any comments welcome.

AirFrance is the same as BritishAirWays... old seats, old unfriendly staff

However, it's not so bad.

CDG is like LHR. Avoid if possible.

KLM is part of the Air France company. They have similar prices most of the time and Schiphol is much nicer. The 747 on the BKK route are very old unfortunately.

Equipment type makes a big difference to me too. Last trip I flew from JFK (New York) to HKG, then HKG to BKK. The JFK-HKG leg, although something like 15 hours, was made much more tolerable by Cathay Pacific's beautiful new 777-300ER. Lots of room, great IFE system, good food.

The WORST flight of my life was on Air France, but that was likely an aberration. Non-stop flight from LAX to Paris - I go stuck in a seat that would only recline about 3 inches (last row by wall) AND the seat in front of me was screwqed up, so it came BACK about 4 extra inches. The guy was literally in my chest the whole flight. The flight attendants (who I really think just didn't give a f*ck) claimed the flight was full and there were no other seats. I spent 75% of the flight standing and walking around just to get out of that seat.

That said, as always, YMMV! I think I just had bad luck (also got mild food poisoning on the connecting flight into Moscow, THEN got sick a cold while there -- just an overall HORRIBLE experience!)

If the fares are good and the flight times work, I say go for it! If the flight is terrible, I think there will be a TG waiting at the end to make you feel better!

I agree with you !

Part of my flight is a 10 hours long and I arrive in BKK at 10'55pm. So it is important to have a nice seat.

I think there is too much difference between economic and business class, so it's a waste of money imo.

On my last trip I've tried the Premium economy. You can get it on BA or Qantas.

It's not so expensive and has nice seats. Also it's at the front of the plane so you can get out quickly !

You can have 2 cabin luggage, and can check-in at business counter.

I reccomend it to people that can spend a few hundreds euros more on their flights.

I'd much rather spend the money in the bars and on (or in) the girls than on a more comfortable seat, personally. I can put up with anything for 24 hours.

I love France, (most of) the French people, but I hate...I mean fucking hate Air France. I swear to Buddha. If they sent me a first class ticket to fly anywwhere in the world, I'd throw it in the trash because I would never fly them again.

If that message wasn't clear enough, AIR FRANCE SUCKS*.

When I started working with this company they asked me which was my preferred airline.

I told them any airline APART from Air France.

I have had many experiences flying with Air France and none of them have been good. In fact some have been outright horrific. I once sat on a plane on the tarmac in Paris Charles De Gaulle (Another shithole) for 4 1/2 hours and THEN they decided to change planes. We were escorted off the plane and given a can of juice and a mouldy old sandwich. They would not even let us out side for a smoke. No apology was ever offered. That was only one experience and there were many, many more beforehand.

That was the last time I flew with Air France. I will never fly with them again.

If you wanted some advice I think you have it.

I hope you make the right decision and if you do go for AF I am looking forward to your post when you get to Thailand.

Should be interesting.

Have a nice flight.

How do you write, create?" You don't, I told them. You don't try. That's very important: not to try, either for Cadillacs, creation or immortality. You wait, and if nothing happens, you wait some more. It's like a bug high on the wall. You wait for it to come to you. When it gets close enough you reach out, slap out and kill it. Or if you like its looks you make a pet out of it."

Cheers guys for the very quick and decisive replies.

Etihad are around 80-100 Euro's more expensive for slightly different dates. When I split it down to 20 euro's per plane journey (4) think I'll stick with them.

Had great flights with Etihad last time. Friendly staff, modern planes, empty seats and free flowing booze :)

Great to see someone listening to solid advice. I think it was unanimous. For the sake of 80 euros I think you are doing yourself a big favour.

Hope you have a great flight and a great holiday. Maybe see you in Pattaya.

Air France

- unfriendly staff
