Drunken Russian Assaults Volunteer Police

A drunken Russian man assaulted a group of volunteer police when the officers tried to pacify him.

Pattaya, 13 June 2011 [PDN]: Pol. Sen. Sgt. Maj Nattta Intarak (Pattaya Tourist Police) and other volunteer police spotted a drunken Russian while they were patrolling in the area of Royal Garden Plaza.

The Russian man dashed aimlessly towards the sea as though he was going to harm himself, an officer said.

The team of over ten volunteer police ran after the man to try to bring him ashore but the man acted violently and abused the policemen, the officer added.

However after a long struggle volunteer police managed to seize the drunk Russian and brought him to Pattaya Police Station.

The Russian tourist remained intoxicated and uncontrollable as he tried to assault the police at the station.

The officers had to isolate him in the prison cell temporarily until he became sober for further questioning and proceedings.

Looks like they should have called in the SWAT (misprint) team to keep things under control.

Be scene and not herd.
