A former Australian security guard has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing hotels and homes around Pattaya.

Peter Junas, 42, was apprehended around 3 a.m. May 27 on Soi Buakaow after refusing to stop for patrol officers near Soi Choun Rak Inn and Third Road. In his carry bag police found a hotel safe with a gold ring, bank book, passports and about 4,000 baht in Swiss francs. They also recovered gloves, a hammer, screwdriver and other tools.

With all the bad press that hotels get when someone gets his wallet stolen it is good to see they catch a few of the culprits.

This article even shows that the hotel staff gets involved looking after clients.... Well done Siam Platinum hotel staff.

Staff at the Siam Platinum hotel detained a 39 year old Thai man who had been stealing from their guests bedrooms.

He had just stolen a digital camera, two watches and 5,000 baht from the room of a Polish guest.

The thief Marut Yuwapan admitted to his crimes stating that he had recently been released from jail on drug charges and he desperately needed money as he was unemployed.

I thought this bit was funny also....

"Safe wont open! Must take whole thing! Hope it fits in my bag??!!"

No wonder the police caught him...he was probably lugging around a massive heavy bag!

I'm just glad they caught the guy...one less corrupt guy on the streets ruining our holidays.
