Knife fight over customer leaves woman dead

After speaking to Noi and some of her friends, quite frankly I was amazed at what I perceived to be such a cavalier attitude about this, perhaps its the Buddhist philosophy (no disrespect).

Unfortunately you are absolutely right. I was shocked to find this attitude at my local Thai restaurant. I have gotten to know the manager and employees very well over the past couple of years and when I went to him asking about the situation and through what channels I could get some answers I was amazed to see the disinterest. The only answer I got was, "Thai girls crazy when it comes to money"

In the meantime, if anyone knows where the girl that did the murder is, please let me know. The tattoo on her right arm is pretty unique.

looks like she has a healthy scar on her right knee also.

Sad story mate, so much misinformation out there about this.

Thanks for taking the time to make that post, You know IMO when you come acorss stories like this every now and then however sad they are, it all seems almost 'detached'

Your post put a very human and personal edge to events and I don't mind admitting when I looked at your pictures and took it all in I had a lump in my throat. Such a terrible waste and of course tragic for all concerned. Lets hope that 'Justice' prevails in some way - Respect.

The part that is scary is how many of these girls are walking around with these types of knives ??

Those switch blades are one hundred baht all over town.

Sad story, RIP, and condolences to her family and friends.

  • 2 weeks later...

Figured I would add one more post on this just to give a final update on what I found out after several days of investigating what I could literally half a world away.

The girl's name that stabbed Oh is in the linked stories in this thread, but her nickname she used is Pon. I still don't have the details of the fight and I doubt anyone ever will have anything other than the lies that Pon told the police. Based upon the two stories from the papers, I tend to believe the follow-up story dated June 10 when they correctly identified the customer as Japanese and that Oh actually died. In that story, the excuse/story that Pon gave for stabbing Oh was that she did not give her the share of the proceeds. There is still a little confusion as to whether they were going back to the ST hotel or returning. However, I was told that the mammasan at Fahrenheit had the customer pay for both girls before leaving so Oh did not have the money to split as Pon indicated.

As far as any arrest or jail time for Pon, this will not happen. Because Oh's family was poor and they now have the 1 1/2 year old baby to deal with, they apparently accepted a payoff from Pon's family for something like 200,000 - 250,000 baht. So if you ever wondered what a gogo dancers life is worth, not only to the Thai people in general, but also their families, now you know.

It's amazing how a poor family can come up with this kind of Money to let a killer loose and back on the street..

Yeah it does seem a lot for the family of a BG to 1, be able to fork out quickly and 2, want to pay in any case.

TIT and I doubt anyone will ever know what really happened.

Let's not limit the scorn on injustice to Thailand -- Casey Anthony is now a "free woman" here in the USA after CLEARLY murdering her daughter.

The only solace I can take from these miscarriages of justice is that those f*cking murderous bitches can chat about how they both "got away with it" while they burn in Hell!

(Don't mean to hijack the thread, but the injustice here seemed to overlap with the injustice for this poor girl murdered in Pattaya)

TSB: you know I am still extremely frustrated by the outcome of this. Regardless of the circumstances, the fact remains justice has not been served here. Every day or two I see random acts of violence (a Thai guy and his girl beating the shit out of each other in the middle of Soi Bukhao), etc. which no one does anything about. I just hope Oh's family uses this money to actually take care of her baby and not set her up for a future life in Patts. See you in September!

P.S. As far as money goes, how many $30,000 pick up trucks have you seen driving around town? That money is coming from somewhere.

I am seeing a contact about this tomorrow to see what I can dig up, the problem is that poor people and "prostitutes", (i hate using that word, but just saying it as thats how they are seen) society doesn't really care too much and murders are quite a nasty thing and people tend to avoid. If people start digging too deep they might unturn a stone that you never wished you did.

There is no justice and will never be until the country has more money. Same as all the other poor countries.

Alot of things go on in Pattaya and it doesn't matter how good a person is, they are still seen as low. If I died in a room in Pattaya or a short time room... the media wouldn't look twice and the police wouldn't care. I would be written off a sex tourist, it wouldn't matter if i'd done 10 years of charity work. If I was a young backbacker on a uni break on Koh samui, it might raise a few eyelids.

I told you via PM about the farang guy who killed 6 people drink driving and how much he paid....

Well based upon the multitude of information contained in this thread, I think you can safely say the punishment you get depends upon how much money you have in your wallet.

Echoing some of the other previous posts on current circumstances in the UK. There are likewise places in Sydney where I wouldn't go alone after dark.

When you hit up a trendy CBD bar you're in a testosterone pumped environment with too many "make way for my guns" types competing for the attention of the few pieces of lamb among the mutton, and of the few overworked serving staff peddling $10 bottle (300 bht) of beer. It's a regular Saturday night Fight Club.

I feel safer in Pattaya to be honest, the dodgy stuff is there but largely avoidable.

I barfined a girl a few times from farhenheit who was friend with the victim... she told me the killer got free and how much she paid (very little money, less than what I read here... don't know if it's true, we were drunk)

The victim is dead and the perpetrator is charged with attempted murder? Only in Thailand.

LOL... work that one out!

Mind you... the amount of misreported 'facts' in these news stories is unbelievable....

the right and wrongs of the case are not important to the thai - the perpetrator compensates the victim and pays off the police and no one goes to jail. Now if the killer is poor and has no money then they go to the monkey house for a long time.

So... if you or your thai girlfriend are going to get into fights just make sure you have enough money to pay people off. Whether you feel you were in the right is not relevant - if you hurt a thai person or damage thai property ( or just accused of it ) pay up and go home....

My advice is stay away from confrontations - simply walk away and enjoy your life.

There are TWO prices to get away from Crimes..Farang Price which is Much Higher then Thai price...

Thais can get out of almost any crime for a Million Baht and this is a very Serious Crime..Judges-Courts--Lawyers and Victims Families are all settled...

Farang Price is Far more then This to settle serious crime..

depends upon

1] how many people are involved and have to be paid off

2] how wealthy the victim is ( compensation for a death of a family member can vary from 50,000 baht to millions of baht for wealthier breadwinner of a family )

3] whether you are thai or pharang (or falang with thai accent)

when a GF had an uncle murdered by a relative a compensation was paid of 50,000 to her uncles family and 50,000 to get the suspect out of jail - I guess you could multiply that by at least 10x if a falang was the suspect.

it is difficult to determine how much bribes really are because when the girls mention them they are looking for falang to pay them so you have no idea if genuine or not

Recent bribe which was quite interesting was 100,000 baht to pass the police entrance exams upcountry. It appears no one gets into the police force without family connections or bribes at every stage of the application process. The job comes with a good salary + bribes and a good pension.

Best to stay out of trouble and keep away from troubled people and enjoy your life - you are not in a western country so do not expect fair treatment if you are a lawbreaker.
