Another notable site for students of the Thai language is Women learn Thai. I'm not sure how the site got it's name, but they don't seem unduly prejudiced against 'us blokes'. A wealth of information on here...links to learning aids, language schools, book reviews, blogs and insights into Thai culture. Well worth dipping into and may provide some inspiration !

Has some useful stuff on there as well as some interesting articles etc.

I really like that site. Have been following the posts about the election posters. She takes the slogan, translates it into English, then adds in all the cultural stuff so that the real meaning is there for falang to understand. fascinating stuff.

 

So I was talking about this to my teacher this morning and she, another great fan of the site, told me to look at http://womenlearntha...ding-kreng-jai/ an article on เกรงใจ (kreng jai)

She told me that it would help me understand a lot about what is happening in interactions with Thai folk when I am there. She was right. As the author says, without an understanding of kreng jai you say TiT a lot more.
