There's a place on Buhkao up somewhere after 18 coins in the next say 300 metros somewhere on that side of the road. They have written on the glass window front about Thai lessons but it said 300 but an hour.

I wanted to contact them to see if they did something different like you are suggesting but couldn't find their web details or any details in google for such ( obviously this was when I wasn't there at the time but to line something up for next visit)

might be with other people for that price.

If you have a search around you should find a teacher that will do one-on-one or a school that would offer a teacher. State how many hours a day and for how many days... then make sure you haggle a bit.

There was a thread here I think an admin statrted about a thai teacher behind on his rent. Might be worth a look. Advantage of that is you'd get a male teacher which is a big advantage as you then won't pick up any 'girly' sayings/expressions etc.

Just hire a Bargirl for 1000 per day plus the barfine and ask her to teach you.

Although if I was living there then I also would be looking for Thai lessons I think.

My holiday time is too precious to spend in a classroom.

Omosh,

What is your level of Thai now?

I think I studied at the same school that Kangarooted mentioned. My teacher was Nitnoi who is now the owner, I belive. She had many positives: very friendly, patient, and decent English. I had a friend who was just starting in Thai and he thought she was great. I was already at an intermediate level when we started and they didn't have any books beyond the basics so we had to make it up as we went. She would bring in newspapers and we would discuss topics and I would ask questions from my conversations with bargirls. It was ok but I would probably recommend going to one of the bigger schools if you're looking for more advanced material. For a beginner I think she is very good.

Note: I was a student there about 2 years ago so things might have changed. If they have more advanced material now then I would recommend it to anyone.
