It is a very long way away from everywhere.

Here is the location on mapjack.

It look me quite a while to find it even with the 'map' provided on their website.

If you do not have a motorbike I would not bother with it I think.

Having said that I will be hiring a bike for my next trip so will be checking out the place anyway for a BBQ or to catch a live band.

PS it is called Shagwell hotel in the photo.

ThaiTrav, is that a really old photo from mapjack as if I remember correctly where the open space next to the hotel where all the empty stalls are isn't there a complex there now full of pool tables and small bars??? There was when I stayed at Shagwell (Wombat hotel now) in May 2010!!!!!

The photo is from 2009 I think.

I was wondering what the nightlife around that area was like.

It's great to know that there are bars etc right in it's doorstep.

I wont be staying at Wombat on my next trip but will definitely be checking it out.

Thanks for the additional information.

Don't it look good when your countdown clock is into the 30's!

Not long to go now...

I'm really keen to check this place out...even if you don't stay there we should go there for a drink and a look around that area.

Apparently there are some beer bars near there also.

Yep, would help if I bought a flight though lol. They are getting cheaper every day, I always say buy 6 - 4 months or 1 month before flying for best deals. So far so good. I'm only being a cheap charlie this end though so I can splash a bit more when I get there.

I'm definitely interested in exploring the area. I also want to have a nose around the Naklua area as I've never done that and do some Darkside exploration.

But then you know how well Pattaya and plans go!

Both Naklua and Darkside are on my hit list fro places to visit this trip.

Also Ban Chang maybe and also Thai Soi 8 Jomtien.

I'm thinking about getting a motorbike (Scooter) on this trip.

Have you ever gotten one?

There is a Sauna I wanna try in Naklua and the Parrot Bar in Darkside (BJ Bar)...damn do I sound excited or what haha.

I've done Ban Chang, it's fun so always up for another trip.

I'd forgotten about TS8, yes, must try and have a nose at that as well.

I always hire a bike. Mainly use it to get me from hotel to S6, then to WS and home!

Hi Guys, just wondered if anyone had stayed at this hotel and can give any information. thinking of stoping here ver Xmas and New Year. Cheers

I stayed there a few times when it was shagwell mansions,it is a basic hotel away from the entertainment area of Pattaya. The video in the link posted up in this thread looks very contrived. The area has improved in the last few years as the hotel was next to a scrap yard when I first stayed there but that has gone and they have put a little bar complex, another guest house there and 7/11 opposite the hotel. There is a laundry around the corner, leave hotel turn right then first left. There is a motor cycle taxi rank outside the hotel and it is opposite the Nirun apartments complex.

At the end of the road about 5 minutes walk away you come to Pattaya klang and you are standing opposite a huge supermarket which used to be Carefour but is now a BigC I believe. It is out of the way and was mostly dead at night when I stayed there about 4 times,I doubt that has changed much. For the money you can get something closer to the action with better rooms.I remember once that I ordered a taxi from them to pick me up from the airport and they never sent it.I stopped staying there when they shot up all the prices and all you got for it was a new lamp, bed cover and a picture in your room.It is on Soi Arunothai. When you get to Pattaya klang you can get a baht bus to beach road/second road/soi buckaow.

The staff were always nice and helpful.

I agree the video is so cheesy.

I've watched it many times just for the comedic value of it. :)

Thanks for the extra intel on the place.

I really do want to check it out just to see something different.

Sorry mate I asked you for a review of this place on another thread today and notices that you already gave me one on this thread.

Thanks again for the review.

I'm arriving 4 days earlier now and thinking about staying here.

Anyone else stayed here in the last couple of months and can give a current review?

If so which room did you stay in?

I'm interested in the Studio rooms for 800Baht per night.

Interestingly when I stayed there about 4 times I tried to get a studio room but could not on each occasion. I think a lot of the staff and long term tenants had them. Hope you have better luck.

I sent off a booking request via their website 2-3 days ago and have not heard back.

So I booked with another place and they got back almost immediately.

I will probably go and check out that area anyway as I have never been there but not responding to bookings is just really bad business practice.

Don't think I would stay there just based on that!

Not too sure why you want to stay there,if you are thinking it is full of Aussies it ain't. Last time I was there it was full of Belgians. It is well off the beaten track and better places are available for cheaper closer to the action. Not answering your email should say it all, as I said before I ordered a taxi off them to pick me up at the airport, never came. There is not that much up in that area to see anyway, just a few bars. A few ex pats live around there as there is a big apartment complex there and some houses.

I stayed there earlier this year and unless you have a motorbike forget it, its to far from the nightlife and really full of OAP's.
