I want to stay 4 or 5 months

Last time I came over I stayed four months but had a hell of a time getting extensions as I did it the stupid way I think

 

Fly in 30 day visa

border runs to Nongkhai/vientiene and Cambodia for 15 day extensions then a double entry 60 day visa Nongkhai/vientiene

 

This time when I come over I want it sorted out so I know in advance what and where and when of the visa as it was chaotic at best with conflicting information with all borders and the Pattaya immigration office.

 

Can anyone give any good advice, for example should I go directly to Thai embassy here iin UK and get them to process my passport before I go back?

I found the Thai Embassy in London to be excellent and very helpful. However get there early as the waiting room was jam packed and about 35 degrees.

if you get a double entry tourist visa not longer than one month before you fly you can stay in total for 5 month including one border run to activate the 2nd 60 days and one 30-day-extension at the jomtien immigration office.

You need to have evidence(ticket out of Thailand) that you are going to leave the country before they give you a double entry visa, i just paid top doller for Jetstar BKK to Singapore return and then cancelled ticket after Visa issued, then when your first visa is about to run out, cross the border to Laos and come back.
