Smart phones and Thailand frequencies

If anyone is up to date on this topic?

I'm looking at buying an unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC to use in Thailand. Its apparently available in 2 different models.

LT15i uses the 900/2100 network

LT15a uses the 850/1900/2100 network (The 3G model for Australia)

Which would be the best for thailand for internet use?

Has 3G made it to Thailand yet?

Thanks

G

pretty sure that Thailand is on 900/1800 GSM frequencies and GRPS only. Best bet would be to look for a quad band GSM phone that would give you flexibility in more places.

I found this article It seems 850MHz is being looked into....As well as upgrading 1800MHz to 3G

But probably sound advice Kanoguy63 to go with a quad band. I like Sony phones and wanted to go android, but maybe an Iphone is a safer bet for overall internet use.

I use a Iphone4 in Australia and the main feature I would like in Pattaya is Google maps with GPS.
