My Flight Idea ?

Thaihot

Recommended Posts

I love flying & i have a interest in Aircrafts & Airlines in general. :GoldenSmile1:

Believe it or not like so many guys here i have not experienced the A380 Airbus.

I am a slow coach in general. :Blur:

The thing is being me I did not want to have the experience of the A380 in economy or coach as you America boys call it.

Business class is big money but I want to fly Business class & fulfill my dream flight with this experience & get all the photos for my collection.

Emirates was the cheapest with Business class seats on the A380 from Bangkok to Dubai return for 50,000 baht that is about £1,000.

So being the desk pot that I am at times & the fully fledged Troll that I am I have been bending my brains to do this flight but at a price that is real good for my budgets.

I had this new idea & please help me or advice on it guys.

I came up with the emirates flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong on the A380 Business class return for 18,620 baht or £370 in my money.

BKK - HKG = 13.45- 17.40

HKG - BKK = 22.25- 00.05

Now I might just do it, the amazing thing is I do not have to stay in Hong Kong for even one night I could just make it a day trip. :GrinNod1:

Does it sound crazy or is it a good idea ??????

Please gents give me you thoughts & any flight fans advice will be welcome.

I'm a bit of a flying nut myself, but would advise against this deal. BKK-HKG is a 2 1/2 hour flight. 5 hours round trip. That's 200 quid an hour.

I like the front of the plane as much as the next guy, but if I wanted to ride the 380 for this short of a flight I'd save my money and buy a coach ticket. You really can't properly enjoy the difference on a 2 1/2 hour flight.

Been on the 380 before (QA SYD-LAX) and it is a really big plane with a lot of people on board. It's definitely worth trying, but give me a seat in the upper deck of a 747 any day.

Plus with the money you save, I think you could probably close Babydolls for the night for a private party and have all the girls have a go at you.

Maths ???? You need a calculator mate.

Please read this I think you did not ?????

" I came up with the emirates flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong on the A380 Business class return for 18,620 baht or £370 in my money. "

5 hours of flying is in fact a cost to me of 18,620 baht this being 3,724 baht per hour thus being £77 in my money.

Now I hope this shows you the cost break down with the facts & figures being correct.

Please now tell me about how my 18,620 baht would go round at a Baby Doll party. :GoldenSmile1:

Come fly with me, come fly, lets fly.

If I do a day trip it will be about 15 hours in total.

I can take photos & fly on this aviation dream plane.

May be one night in Hong Kong but I think not as I could be in Agogo bar before closing time & catch the exiting crowd near Nana or hit the clubs or Nana car park ?????

I was thinking fly on a Sunday & then stay Bangkok Sunday night well Monday morning as I would check in at 1.30am approx & then 2 more nights to enjoy the amazing city.

Are there any options to do a one way from the UK to BKK on the 380 and then economy on the way back to reduce the cost. If you really want to enjoy the luxury and time onboard then a HKK trip maybe to short, that 2.5hrs will go by very quickly

Cheers

Jon

How about flying to Bangkok via hong kong from England.

Or fly to Dubai economy and go business class for the rest of the Journey.

For what you want it sounds like it should work. I'm too cheap to ever pay business class, I'm asleep through most of the flight so why pay 2x or more the price for what to me seems a questionable improvement.

the only flaw I see is that if you want to day trip in HK I believe you will need some sort of visa.

I will say I like flying on a 380 way better than a 747.

For me flying business on the 380 was like going to Pattaya first time; very addictive

Had the pleasure going Paris to Singapore with Singapore Air, 13 hours, and for once wished the journey was longer :GoldenSmile1:

If you really love flying fly LHR-BKK on an A380 and save the money for 30 minutes in a Pitts S2 or Extra 300. If aerobatics scare you try a Cessna 150.

Well looked into flying Bangkok to Hong Kong with Emirates in June 2011 & the flight is £380 for business seats return & can be done in one day.

Also once booked it is free to cancel, free to change the dates & has a 12 month validity time.

I am thinking about booking it & i know its a expensive day out or experience but what a day for me. :GoldenSmile1:

I don't see the point of business class on such a short flight. 2 and a half hours and one meal?

Just do it in economy. The comfort difference between economy and business doesn't come into play until you're 3 and a half hours or more into your flight.

Make it worth your while, save your money and do it at least BKK - Dubai in one decent shot.

Look at the flight miles you get too. Either build them up on normal flights and use that to pay for the upgrade, or take the extra miles you get for business class and mentally knock that off the price of your next flight.

For me, the £1000 is better value than the £380.

Emirates business-class is superb, the best I have experienced. This was on a brand new 777 Sydney to Bangkok on 30/12/10 for NY in Pattaya. Fantastic cabin crew, excellent food and huge entertainment system. I really really should have slept some time but it was too good to miss, then again I hardly wanted to sleep in those 10 days once I arrived.

And - mine was an upgrade for $199 AUD.

Returned on Jetstar in early Jan so the whole round trip cost $850. Amazing for Xmas-NY

Yep, misread and saw the 1000 quid for DXB-BKK. Although 370 quid will get you 4 3-somes long times with Babydolls girls (at the post 1:30AM barfine). It all depends on how much value you place on the 380 biz class ride for 2 1/2 hours each way. Up to you.

Just to give you some perspective, for me to get to BKK, it is a 15 hour flight to HKG + another 2 1/2 hours to BKK. I get to Thailand 3 or 4 times a year. I fly to London once a month and that is an 8 hour flight. Every other week, my weekly commute to work is a 2 hour flight, so I regard the short flights as little more than a bus trip to work. That's why I say 2 1/2 hours is not enough time to properly enjoy a flight that is special. Of course, if you don't fly as much as I do, your perspective may be totally different.

I've flown pretty much every airplane type in commercial service. The airline and the level of service is more important than the plane. Emirates is supposed to be one of the best. Favorite airlines for me have been in order, Singapore, Cathay, JAL, Asiana and Thai. Favorite airplanes are the 747 (if I am in the upper deck), 767 and the MD-80. Everyone should fly the 380 at least once for the novelty; I just find it is way too big and there are way too many people.

I regard Hong Kong as civilized China. Totally different from the mainland, which I think of as the wild west. If you are used to Thai prices, everything will seem very expensive in Hong Kong. The mainland seems more in line with Thailand.

As far as things to do in Hong Kong, there is the light show in the harbor every night at 8PM. Best vantages are either from the shore on the Kowloon side or take the tram up to Victoria peak. Shopping on the Central side is probably better than Bangkok. Of course it is expensive. I find the night market quite a lot of fun as well. Hong Kong because of the extensive MTR is much easier to get around than Bangkok.

For hotels, I usually stay on the Kowloon side because I am cheap.

There are numerous P4P possibilities but they will seem ridiculously expensive compared to Thailand. I would recommend a ferry package to Macau and a soapy just for the experience. But it is not cheap.

Other things to do, if you stay overnight and are from a visa waived country, head up to Shenzhen for a day. You can get there by MTR. Chinese boom town. Think wild west with skyscrapers an upscale shopping. 4 star hotels can be had for around 1800B. Plentiful P4P options, closer to Thailand prices but be prepared to negotiate or overpay. If they think you are just passing through, the girls will ask for silly money.

Well thanks for your input mate but I do not want to go to Dubai & I can just afford £380 but not £620 more.

If I had plenty of spare money I would fly London to Bangkok with Emirates & this is £2400 min with Netflights.com

I am just mad to fly on the A380 & it is well over due.

Fly London to Bangkok economy class on the A380. Instead of spending the money on a flight to Hong Kong find a flying school with an Extra 300 or Pitts S2 after you return home and spend your money there.
