You could have a look at Oz Visa Thai for a free guide although it might be a bit awkward to organise if you are not in Thailand.

I am moving this to the visa section.

I used a Thai Visa service cost me about 10,000 baht,

I e-mailed them and they sent me a list of things I had to show to immigration.

I gave them the TG phone number and they sorted her out on what she had to show to immigration.

It's a little bit of run around but worth it, I brought my TG out on a Tourist Visa twice for a period of 3 months both times.

The Thai Visa Company looked after my TG while she was in BKK found her a hotel and took her out for a meal as well.

run through the process with her etc

I did all this from Australia, if you can fax papers etc or you would have to post your passport photos.

if you want more detail PM me.

I curious about why you needed to post your passport photos.

Not sure but that is what they ask for, two passport size photos, (not necessarily the actual passport photo) I never disputed why, i just sent them, maybe they wanted to make a fake pasport? lol

I probably could have explained myself better.

It must be a business thing as I have got 3 visas for my GF and never once supplied passport photos for myself. Although every time I have been with her when the application has been lodged.

I had to provide two passport photo's as well. They stick one of them on the square at the top corner of the sponsors form. Dont know where the other goes.

Sponsor's form!!??? I don't believe that there is provision in Australian immigration law for sponsoring a non-family member for a visa. Unless things have changed recently there is no 'sponsor form' to complete when you are helping a Thai apply for a tourist visa.

This is a cut of a letter sent to me requesting necessary particulars, whether all is required or not i would not know really.

"As a Sponsor you will have to show Bank statements and preferable evidence of any Bank statement or property.

1. Copy of your passport, every page including the first time you came to Thailand and all the Immigration stamps.]

2. Evidence of sponsor's Australian citizenship or permanent resident status.

3. Funds, Bank statement for the previous six months.

4. Employment Reference. You should present evidence of current employment.( If you are self-employed, you need to provide evidence of business ownership i.e., Business registration or shareholder's certificate.) 5. Written statement detailing about the history and relationship. (i.e., when/ where you first met her, how the relationship developed)

6. Correspondence before you came to Thailand i.e., letters (together with envelopes), cards, telephone, accounts etc.

7. Photographs and any other documentation that you think would support your application.

8. Evidence of contact/relationship with your sponsor (Letters with original envelopes, emails, telephone bills, photographs, money transfers if any)

9. Other evidence that may establish sponsor's financial ability to provide settlement support to the applicant (Evidence of employment, Tax assessment notices, business documents if self -employed, superannuation documents if self - funded retiree)

10. Details of the accommodation. If you are buying the accommodation on a mortgage, you show the evidence of Registration Document of accommodation. or Confirmation of hotel booking or invitation letter with authenticated signature.

Remark

The Embassy only give a basic guideline as to which documents the sponsor and the applicant need to produce. We always add more important documents to the application, which makes it stronger.

From my previous experience it is for better to give much more information about yourselves than the above requirements as.

I did one for my TG last year, no sponsor forms to fill out. Only thing i had to do was show evidence that i had know her i.e. photos, phone records etc. I also provided a letter of support in a stat dec format detailing how long i had know her etc , my job and how much i earned and how much i had in the bank.

I help my GF about 4 years ago with her first visa. There was (and still is) no 'sponsor form' to complete. What 1rooster posted is a list of evidence to show that you have a relationship with the girl and that you are prepared and able to assist her financially. There is only one form suppied by the Immigration Department to complete and that is her application form.

Hi All

I completed and lodged a tourist Visa to Australia for my Thai girl friend in February 2011 with success, I put my name on her application form as the sponsor (Part G – Questions 32, 33, 34) then just provided the information on proof of funds and type of sponsorship I was going to provide.

Gday jum1983, I had my TGF out over christmas last year with no dramas. Best advice I can give is the the same as Scumbag, get someone to help over there. I provided all the required documents detailed in the excellent visa site that is linked through Scumbags posts, scanned and emailed them to my girl, she took them to a visa agent and hey presto. Like the website says, be very thorough with your paperwork, the visa agent was rapt with how organised we were and it was easy. I was confident enough to do it myself but using an agent as I wasn't there put my girls mind at ease and could communicate fully with the thai lady who dealt with her. Just for her peace of mind. Good luck mate!

BTW I supplied shit scans of my passport as proof of my multiple trips to Thailand, just adds weight to the story I suppose.

On another note, if your reading Scumbag, thank you for continued sage advice on this board regarding perhaps the more serious side of Thai relationships, Good Onya!

I'm all shook up, uh uh uh, uh uh uh, oh yeah...

Similar but partner visa requires different forms and statements from people who have met both of you and are citizens of the sponsors home country.

  • 4 months later...

I'm thinking of bringing my TGF out to Australia for 3-4 weeks holiday, would it be better for me to just get her to apply for a holiday visa in Thailand like any normal holiday maker through a travel agency etc or me to go through the hoops trying to do it from here?

You need to get it sorted when you are in Thailand...

He doesn't need to be in Thailand with her when she applies although it would make things a bit easier.

mowerman, make sure you do some research before having her apply for a visa. It is not as easy as having her filling in the application and lodging it. You will need to provide some documents and she will need to submit some stuff too. Check out the link in my signature.
