ie 9 problem

This morning, I upgraded to ie9 on my desktop which runs Vista. It works well except that it does not display the page!! Where the web page should be shown in the window, it is either transparent - showing the desktop - or black. Running the cursor over the black page I can see that something is there, albeit invisible as the cursor changes to show text or links are underneath it.

Have restarted computer, restarted ie, disabled all bhos etc then retored them. Anyone any ideas for a solution?

Before you suggest changing to a mac, not feasible. Other browsers, firefox, opera etc work fine. I need to have a wide range of browsers for a variety of reasons related to web work that I do. I prefer using debian lenny, but have to run microsoft/ie for certain functions.

Any suggestions welcomed

But...what do I know?

Now solved.

In case anyone else has a similar problem, here is how I did it.

The problem was caused by ie9 wanting to use hardware acceleration and my video card being too old to cope. So if you have the same problem, in ie9

Go tools>internet options> advanced.

Check the use software rendering tick box

Click OK

then restart ie9

But...what do I know?
