How to hide your number?

Recommended Posts

Hi

For sensitive reasons I want to stop my Thai mobile [DTac] phone number being shown on the display of the numbers I am calling.

Want to suggest I am out of Thailand.

Can this be done with a prefix before dialling a Thai mobile [08] number?

Any advice=thanks

Can't be done with dtac, don't know about the other companies as I never use them, even if you change the settings on your phone it will still show your number to the person you're calling.

You can set up a number from anywhere on Skype and call from your computer. They can also call you and it could be forward to your cell phone.

Just a suggestion.

Spoofing will at least get you an "unknown" on their display.

To my knowledge you cannot do it with any service in LOS. I understand the need, you might want to be in LOS fooling around, and you call Tilac and show that you are still in USA, Europe, whereever. Cannot be done with your mobile, but can do with various portable VOIP services. Skype was mentioned, also works supposedly with the Vonage service--you attach to dsl and your phone number remains the same. However, when I call LOS with Vonage callee always gets a "02" (Bangkok) extension, but a different one everytime.

You can disable callerid in some phones, but if you do, they will not work in LOS (tried it with my Samsung).

Finally, if you really want to be anonymous with "tilac" remember to hide your emails as well, as you have originating IP in all e-mails if the person wants to look deep enough, they will know you are in LOS. If you want to hide this you need to use a proxy capable of Https. I have gotten this to work for gmail, but never for hotmail, because of the scripts that hotmail uses. I have not tried yahoo mail with this.
