Being as I come from beef country I have a difficult time enjoying a steak anywhere else in the world. The closest I've come was in Malta in 2004. But even then it was Canadian Black Angus beef that I was eating. :001_Sawasdee:

Best steak i've had was round my mate Chris's house on his 50th, filet mignon cooked to perfection.

Best steak i've had in a restaurant was at Manhattens. B)

If I recall correctly someone posted that Drunks and Dare a Licks in Jomtien supposedly do a fine steak. :001_Sawasdee:

I was in Manhattans last week and have to say the steak there was as good as I have ever had.

Sure its more expensive than most places but IMO its well worth it

Looks good SB. I'll have to give it a try. Even though we are spoiled here in the states when it comes to good steaks, I still like having one overseas now and again. I have always walked away happy from the El Toro. BTW, where is Manhattans?

BOBS BBQ & GRILL is said to be good. Latest about BOBS

I second that the steaks are great.

Cheers,

I think I can only recall ever eating steak once in Pattaya and that was at The Captain's Corner at the Residence Gardens. It was a good meal from what I remember. :D

Yes the Captains Corner restaurant at the residence garden is quite good . Although probably not the best steak to be had in pattaya its good and you can eat as much as you like . Its similar to a texas style bbq buffett , where you can pick from an assortment of meats and seafood , drop them of at The Grill and while they are preparing to your liking you can have you fill of a nice selection of salads and side dishes. All for the price of 350 baht .

They will even come pick you up In there ac minibus and drop you off after if you give them a ring (no charge) .

A couple of nights per week Elvis even shows up to keep you entertained

Cheers

I stayed at RG so it was convenient for me that trip and I didn't need a pick up. Haven't been back since but I remember that we ordered from the menu rather than the buffet.

It could have been the best steak in Asia and to me it would still only be good. The best steak is always at home in Alberta for me, although I'm certain there are others who think the best is where they live. :D

In general "beef" in Thailand is poor quality whether it be a good cut (for steak) or a cheaper one.

From what I can gather its simply because they don't rear beasts for the same type of consumption we are used to i.e. most beef in Thailand is cut small and boiled for noodle soups.

You can get often get Argentinian beef in the "steakhouses" but that has been frozen so the taste is affected.

It IS possible to get Kobe Beef in some places, especially BKK - if that is to your taste.

I have also been told that the steaks at Drunk and Darealicks are good - but they only do them on 2 or 3 nights a week and I forget which ones. I believe he uses an English Butcher in Pattaya.

The Beefeater in Soi Diana does have some really good food, I went there on my first trip to Thailand and had the Steak & Ribs and a nice bottle of red wine, best meal of my trip i think! lol

If it is still on, you should try T-bone steak night at Uncle Charlies.

Best T-bone i ate, grilled on an old Charcoal grill standing outside

Location just across from Bay Breeze hotel on second road.

Agreed with Braveheart, home beef line

there is no better beef than from country Victoria, cuts like butter, with a bit of garlic butter or mushroom sauce, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nothing in los has even been in the same universe.

But I tend to give up trying to find something good after a few expensive dissapointments.

Will try again on some recommendations.

there are lots of good places to eat steak in pattaya , of course manhattans is very good but very pricey , i find that there are 3 or 4 very good steak restaurants around soi diana.

i agree the Beefeater in soi diana is good , but go in behind it , into the actual plaza and try both patricks restaurant (belguim) and my way (dutch).

in my opinion ,my way serve the best steaks in pattaya , closely followed by patricks , but avoid kiss food at all costs.

Agree Beefeater is nice, but always had the best steaks in Jomtien. Cannot remeber the name of the place but its a restuarant in front of a big hotel just round the corner as you hit the beach road.

Usually visit at least once every trip, they did a special of fillet steak and a strawberry coulis sauce was heaven on a plate

Agree about Beefeater and Patricks.

I have thought that El Toro went downhill a lot, used to be good but deteriorated although I've heard that it has recovered i have not been back recently to check. SWMBO went in January abd reckons that it has improved but not all the way yet.

I must agree that I like Manhattans, expensive but the quality makes up for it.

(Bruno's had the Japanese "Waygu" steak the other week but above my touch)

How will Captain's Corner be doing with the roadworks?, and both Mata Hari and Manhattans will lose their "front" parking!
