You're better off going the night before and taking a hotel in Bangkok and a taxi to the airport in the morning, Bangkok does not celebrate that day. A taxi to Bangkok from Pattaya would take 9-12 hours on the big day.

I work for The Pattaya News in Pattaya, Thailand. I run monthly meetups and bar crawls.

I have a flight out on the 20th ... wonder if it will be as bad since they have extended the celebration ??

You should be fine. I am leaving Detroit on the 20th as well bound for Patts. It's an overnight flight and you will actually arrive on the 21st (International Date Line change). The 20th is the last day of Songkran.

Wrong direction. I am leaving Pattaya/Bangkok on the 20th.

I have to make a quick side trip to Singapore.
