Over the phone Hotels bookings..

In the last couple of trips (including this April trip coming) i've been looking at different hotels to stay at, but instead of booking online(which i do on occasions) i like to ring & ask questions...ie: Girl friendly,late check-out....that sort of thing.

 

So while the receptionist is giving me the speal on their hotel & i like what i'm hearing, i'm thinking...while i'm talking with them i'll might as well book a room hey. Stay 15mins on the phone giving them my details etc etc...easy,job done? No bloody way! Asked for a confirmation email & received nothing....give them a call..."Your not on computer sir" Lucky for me i've had a few punter friends in Patts before i arrived & they had gone to the hotel's to book me in.

 

This has happened 3 times now in 3 different (well established) hotels.... Why have a receptionist when they can't take phone booking??

 

Has anyone else had this problem???

Not yet, but I will let you know Friday when I arrive in Pattaya. Booked a nice little hotel. No booking agent Agoda/IDO24/atsiam etc they do not even have an email address or web site? how they manage to get customers I have no idea. I have seen some smaller hotels advertise them self's on facebook but unless you know the name of the hotel this seems pointless to me.

 

You are quit right. The best way to deal with this type of accommodation, even large hotels for that matter is to get a buddy in Pattaya to make the reservation for you and secure it with a deposit. I guess even this can still go badly wrong. This trip my Thai GF has made the booking for me... "Half" the price I would have payed. Will let you know... when it goes all tits up hehe

Oh yeah...from now on will have a friend go past the hotel to check my booking.....yes sometimes i have my TGF book the hotels or taxi's for me, but these bookings are when i'm flying solo when in Patts

i have booked my hotel by phone many time.. but of course i alway stay at one place. i love the hotel..

 

so they know who i am. and all i have to do is say my name and they just say how long you staying and thats it..

other then booking with them by phone i wouldnt do it at any other hotels. i would be to scared if someone get my credit card info. ( if they need ). or if someone just get lazy to write it down or forget about it....

its a fucking nightmare on the phone. thought i would stay lk metroonly one who bothered to get back to me was billabong. so next time buss owners cry about low season BOLLOX .cant respond 2 emails punters wont bother them again
