Flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I'm looking for a flight from BKK to Chiang Mai on 3rd May 2011 Any suggestions on cheap local flights? Are they the same as many asian flights in that they get more expensive nearer to the date?

Thx for your help.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

The cheapest I found in November was with Air Asia.

I checked the prices a first time around september but I booked only two days before the flight.

I don't remember the prices but I'm certain that, if there was a difference, it was very little.

I just checked and you can go back and forth for less than 3000 THB.

Try www.skyscanner.net to give you a comparison of all the flights available on that day and route. You can filter by airline, price, time etc as well as moving backwards and forwards to check different days.

I just had a quick look for your date and the Air Asia ones start at £27.00 one way.

yes they get more expensive the closer you get.

there are flights from both Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports.

I shall be staying in the Amari Trium hotel in BKK, which airport is the more convenient to fly to Chiang Mai please?

Some very quick helpful answers, thank you all very much. I was quoted 93 Euros by one online Co. Air Asia have a promo for 1200 odd Baht inc taxes. I'm only going to book one way as I don't know how long I'll stay there. I have 30 days in LOS in total, I'm looking forward to something completely different.

If you are not in a hurry, you can also go by train.

One other thing to keep in mind with the cheaper carriers. There is a very small baggage allowance, in most cases. If you exceed the allowance, you will pay more than you saved by flying the cheaper airline.

Thanks, I will have 15 KG which I think is ok with most budget airlines. I have 15Kg Tenerife/Madrid/Tenerife return flights but 30 Kg on the business class Madrid/Thailand/Madrid flights which I will not use. On Ryanair Tenerife/Madrid they wanted 80 Euros for my golf clubs!!!

On air asia you always need to pay for checked lugage. I think it will be around 350 THB for 15 Kg.

They also enforce carry on weight very strictly at the boarding gate so best not to try to sneak in extra kilo's in your back pack.
