One of the best I have seen is 2499 Daeng Birely's Young Gangsters with following plot:

 

In 1950's Thailand, under a corrupt military government, it seems that the only options for the youth are to become a gangster....

 

This film is a true story of a famous gang of young thugs in Bangkok in the 1950's. It is in the style of any 50's US movie and just about everyone has James Dean type haircuts. The soundtrack is 50's rock and not Thai music. If you ask any Thai person what was the best Thai movie ever they will mostly say this one.

If you want to learn thai though, i would recommend you to start watching Thai soap series. Stories are always very easy to catch (so you can pick up a lot of meaning) and language usually similar as daily life in Thailand. Also personally prefer not to have subtitles if intention is to learn the language... subtitles are distracting.

Has anyone seen the Naresuan movies? I've got the first two queued up to download but am still waiting for subs to appear for the third one. They're supposed to be quite good.

 

It's a shame DVDs aren't released with subtitles.

i loved ong bak must have seen it 7 times at the cinema when it came out, also love ong bak the begining but i have yet to see ong bak 3. beautiful boxer is another good one love the early panna rittakri (hope thats how you spell it) movies. there is also a movie i saw in blockbusters called soi cowboy but i have yet to see that.

Where can I get some Thai films with eng subs or English with Thai subs?

Every torrent I find has no seeders and a google search finds bugger all.
